I think the best setup for this show would be for Cavill to be an interrogator in charge of an cell, akin to the two novels Sandy Mitchell wrote to coincide with the release of the Dark Heresy rpg. Gives them the freedom to use any number of storytelling styles with basically the full range of the Imperium to use as potential backdrops, and the Inquisitorial backing puts them above a lot of the restrictions that exist in Imperial society without giving them the nearly unlimited authority of Cavill being an Inquisitor himself.

I want a story with him the primarch of the ultramarines.

Hell they could do an event horizon type movie of just some poor fucks on a ship that stayed in the warp too long.

and at the end their 'rescuers' stomp up in terminator armor and the pilot lights on their heavy flamers click on as the screen fades to black.

I was discussing possible show idea they might use with other friends familiar with the 40k universe.

Lower budget they could do a band of brothers style show with the Gaunt's Ghost series of books.

Big Amazon budget they could have Henry play Eisenhorn and have a nice grim dark detective series.

Either way hire Dan Abnett. I've had friends/family read both of those series who weren't gamers and enjoyed them.

‘’It’s called treachery, Roboute. It works very well. How did you find out?’’ - Lorgar, Primarch of the Word Bearers Traitor Legion

'We’re not going to debate it, you maggot, you treacherous bastard. ‘I just wanted you to know that I will rip your living heart out. And I want to know why. Why? Why? If this is our puerile old feud, boiled to the surface, then you are the most pathetic soul in the cosmos. Pathetic. Our father should have left you out in the snow at birth. He should have fed you to Russ. You worm. You maggot.’

Yeah I stopped reading 40k quite a while back but one of the things I noticed when I stopped was that his quality seemed to be badly slipping. Horus Rising was a fine way to kick off the Heresy but Prospero Burns was terrible, Know No Fear was terrible (seriously, that awful quote Regime just posted right above me is part of a longer conversation between Lorgar and Guilliman and the whole thing sounds as bad as that little excerpt does), The Unremembered Empire was utter nonsense, and I saved Legion for last because it is one of the worst books in the entire Black Library. It gave every other author carte blanche to make the Alpha Legion capable of basically anything because 'lol infiltration specialists'. Also Legion kicked off the stupid Perpetuals bullshit, although considering how far that spread it was probably discussed beforehand and allowed to be added, but it was still likely his idea.

Salvation's Reach really seemed off too, and I never ended up finishing the Ghosts series because of it.

I would expect Space Marines or Battle Sisters to show up sparingly for the wow factor.

Rescuers? They gonna shop up like 300 years later and exterminate whatever is left on the ship if they don't outright blow it up.

Primarch/Heresy stuff is what "everyone" will want, they just need Avatar level budgets. No problem!

First forays into 40k for mass media really should be animated to get people familiar. If they blow a huge live action budget and it flops, they won't get another chance for a long while. Pretty much the only thing that worries me.

It will probably be good, but what if the masses don't like it?

Bro I own most of the 40k books he's written.
I’ve been enjoying the Horus Heresy. My favorite writer has been ADBowden dude.

So far my favorite book (half way done) is Betrayer

That's two books ahead of where I stopped. Though I seriously doubt Betrayer is better than The First Heretic, which is an absolute masterpiece.
I dunno everyone says it’s on par. The First Heretic is great.
