Some of those models are pretty scary. GFS has it directly hitting New York on September 10th at 10am as around a Cat 3 right now. That would be a total disaster. There are some models that Irma might be a fish storm(no landfall). It just shows how the long term forecast can change quickly. Nothing is definite right now.
Because we have to pay for the cleanup. Why would it hitting New York be a disaster?
Hard to tell how much is people panicking or what already. Reports of stations out of gas as far away as Georgia. I saw that lot of empty stations in central TX out. Of course it's a holiday, largest refinery down, and no telling how many stations in the Houston area will have to pump the water out first. Got diesel today and gas was $0.50/gallon more expensive than diesel. Odd considering it's refined at the same refinery, in the same cat cracler/
I've said it before. I keep ~40 gallons on hand at all times. We cycle it on lawn stuff and after a few months rotate it to my gas tank in the van( because it is a old beater with 280k miles on it anyways )A lot of people who didn't buy any before the hurrican are now in panic mode and buying all they can before any service interruptions. Probably selling more gas now than before the storm.
You really should rethink your fuel situation. When gas tanks are kept constantly low or allowed to run near dry it allows the fuel pump to pick up all the trash and sludge that builds up over time. Clogging injectors and burning out pumps. Always keep it 1/2 or better full.I keep at least a quarter tank.
In my truck.
Also my Costco and debit cards handy.

Well, you simply stated truck. You offered no specs as to age, type or fuel pump technology in your post. I can tell you anything up to near 2000 is very risky to run at low fuel tank levels if you value not spending $1000 on something preventable.A quarter tank isn't low.
Also, modern fuel tank design has changed a how those are submerged, it's really hard to burn out a fuel pump anymore.

Depends. Do you have terrible fuel consumption? Possibly due to dirty injectors for treating your truck like a migrant? Do you have neighbors who like to steal a gallon of it in the middle of the night? Is the seal on your gas cap bad potentially allowing liters of it to evap over a months time? You have to give me more details here man. Do you have a 12 gallon tank or 300. Details man details.Quarter tank isn't low
Worst derail ever?
I was thinking the same thing. It's up there in the top few for sure. Even tanoomba derails were entertaining.
Worst derail ever?
Only if the 1/4 tank is too low bullshit is followed up by you have to warm up your car bullshit. Then it might be.
