I'm coastal Palm Beach county. So we are screwed almost any way this thing goes. The good news is almost everyone I'm talking to is taking it serious and seems to be prepared. But Wilma was our last big one and that was 12 years ago, so lots of new people and lots to forget.
We have a new division manager at work who has never been in a hurricane, he sent an email today reminding everyone that since the hurricane is hitting Sunday, this week and next week are 'business as usual'. I guess he got tired of seeing people talking about it or their lack of supplies. He seems to think it's a 4-6 hour event, then things are normal again. He honestly believes that Monday after this, we'll all be back at the office like nothing happened. Sadly, he has decided to flee the area, so he will still not experience first hand the destruction and chaos that follows.
Key West is down to an 18% chance of Hurricane force winds, as of the last models.
This is the damndest shit.
Read something that said they're estimating 90% of Barbuda, and 95% of St. Maarten are completely destroyed.
I'd guess tomorrow we'll have a better idea how the Virgin Islands fared.
I'm sure they are actually fucked up but be careful what you see on social media. Some videos on social media with millions of views on Irma damage were years old according to fake news media.Yeah I heard that and saw some pics on twitter. They done got fugged up.

Unbelievable. I stood outside in the brunt of 'Hurricane Sandy' in New Jersey in 2012... for fun. We considered it cool and novel to go stand in the storm and lean against the wind of it..... for pics.
That shit there in that video is insane. I am scared for all of Florida now. Sandy was absolutely nothing compared to that. I went outside with a camera and filmed Sandy. I wouldn't be anywhere near the 'outside' if that thing was on top of me.
Atheist prayers to all the Florida-bros here.
I think we need to fund some global wind change projects... I was in Palm Springs a few weeks ago to see the landscape littered with
These hurricanes make me think nature is pissed off and wants to re-balance itself from the wind we are taking and creates even stronger winds...
While I don't think its actually correlated I do wonder what the real impact is on these wind farms is on wind patterns and their effect on the weather. Maybe they are just ugly though...
Go to Wyoming, eastern half of the state is full of them. I still haven't seen one actually turning.
