Well obviously shelter is suggested. You wouldn't want to get wet, would you?

Can you ID the house that was properly attached to the slab?
I've had remodels where after ripping out drywall found the base plate was not attached to the foundation. Was just resting on it.

Which is another issue. Many of the places hurricanes land are areas rapidly developed by lowest bid subdivision developers / contractors.

Technically it "shouldn't" happen anymore since they now have multiple step inspections after foundation, rough in( x2 in some places )then finished in addition to hvac, plumbing, electrical, but I've seen in TN up until 2005 you only had to have electrical when owner builder and in KY I've seen plumbers slip inspectors food gift cards to turn a fail into a pass. Quality government!

I'm a terrible person - I'm fascinated by the sheer destructive force of these storms. I genuinely don't want people to be hurt, killed, or suffer in any way, but I'd be interested to see what happens if the biggest bloody storm ever rolls over the whole eastern seaboard. The sheer magnitude of the devastation would be nearly unfathomable.

Stay safe, my Floridian friends.

Amending what I said before. Family down in PR saying shit went on lock-down, the ghost-town stage. Bayamon/San Juan metro low-lying areas are going to get it rough if it's the 10-15 surge they're forecasting.
