Eye wall is right over the house currently. Friends have cell service and reporting in. Surge isn't too bad and everyone seems to be handling things ok.

Sounds like a freight train racing a jet plane.

Ya that livestream at Publix above shows it handling the hurricane pretty well. A single piece of metal coming down that hall would kill like 5 people in a thousandth of a second though.

Metal roofs are preferable on top of the house, for sure.

Hmm feed ended as water started rising. I'm guessing internet/AT&T finally went down in the keys.

We seem to have really lucked out over here in Ft Laudy. 60ish mph winds right now, raining all night, but we still have power/internet. Really thankful for the change of events. Still like 12+ hours to go.

Getting tired of CNN's autistic-level coverage of this Hurricane. Just bumped Fareed Zakaria GPS with repetitive, disinteresting, uninformative coverage.

Disrupting Meet the Press, too -_-

Don't watch CNN for weather. The political commentators keep reminding everyone they don't know shit about the weather, and make shit up as they go. They are calling politicians for comments on the weather. And they have some 80 lb asian chick just hanging on the a trash can with both hands in downtown Miami, and it's 60 mph winds at best.

Fox sucks just as hard because Shemp will tell you that you're gonna die, and your kids too.

Weather channel or local news from south Florida if you can get it.

My house is roughly where the "1" is.

Looks like a dry slot behind the eye.

I just assumed the radar couldn't pick up behind that eye wall. It uses data from other radars as well and there is many on land that are filling in 3 of the sides. Once it gets up to Miami level it should have 360 coverage.
The infrared and sat maps show it pretty solid around the eye.
If you go to National Weather Service radar from Miami, FL and change around radars you can see that dead spot behind the eye moves depending on where radar is. The NWS radar from Keys is offline currently

This. Ground radar can penetrate only so far through heavy rain.
