I'm amazed. I don't think a shingle is missing.

3rd from end on rt. The brown roof next to the green roof.

The plant lover in me thinks you should thank your palm trees, it seems the wind came from the direction of your tree wall to the south of your house is located? or have I miss identified your house. Trying to think of the damage in terms of where the palm trees would have dampened the wind significantly before it impacted any given house.

So fucking hot we can't sleep.
Wet rag on neck and feet. After a minute wring it out good and repeat until body temp is not 140. Neck is a real thing but I've noticed since being on thinners that if my feet are cold I am cold.

I have yet to see a single Duke Energy truck. Rumors keep swirling that they are not paying their guys OT so at 5 they pack up and go home.

I want to believe. The smoke is so thick here right now that my eyes burn anytime I'm outdoors.

This was the problem with hurricane charlie. It was not total devastation it was a week or two without power and limited services in florida summer with massive amounts of post storm humidity. I hope you guys get your power back soon so you can fire the AC back up.

A fucking railroad? I'm guessing at one point someone was like we should build communities on these little rocks. What do we need?
42 bridges, a fuckton of concrete and a railroad to haul all that shit there.
Done.
So what's the plan?
We'll split it up into 1/4 acre lots, sell them for hundreds of thousands of dollars and build $70,000 homes on them!
DONE
What about landscaping?
Stick some flamingos in the sand.
DOOOOONE

I recently finished a book about the Overseas railway. The keys pretty much exist as a community because of this crazy idea:

That shit is the absolute worst. Olebass's suggestion on the wet cloth is really the best option for keeping cool. Do you guys have a generator or at least something to power a fan?

What I did last year when we had water but no power yet was to run the water on the absolute coldest I could with some tubs in our shower (we don't have any tubs in our property at all, standing showers only - so need to use tubs, using a stopped in a standard tub could accomplish the same) - then buy a 10# bag of ice from the store and add some of that to cool it down further (in theory as I'm saying it, I think some ice would've allowed further cooling too - but we didn't do that - just an inspiration hitting me now while writing) while stashing the rest of the ice in a cooler for later refreshing of it.

It's surprising how much a full to the brim 50 gal or so tub with ice water will cool down the adjacent rooms when there's nothing else helping.

If you're hoteling a bit - I know Choice Rewards group is doing buy 2 get 1 on nights right now with their program. It's what I used to mitigate the costs on the drive up and back from Maryland some.

Seriously? They prioritizing road lights or something out there? It's surreal in most of Brevard right now, so many traffic and road lights are out - but most of the residential power is up. (And water is back too - besides a boil warning for half of Merritt Island [my half of course though, lol - thankfully our tap tastes like shit even when it's not got a boil warning, so it's only really an issue for pet water - since any cooking water I'd already be boiling])

They seem to be doing okay at residential power, i feel like I'm just at the bottom because giant fucking tree snapped 2 poles.

They've done a lot of work on Lights though. Only a few intersections still out on my way to work

Our hood was in the eye wall. Wind was initially SE, then E, then NE and when the eye passed it went NW then W then finally SW. The trees did take some of it, for sure. Not being directly on the channel and taking it full on probably saved alot of the houses in the area.

Alot of my friends on Big Pine suffered significant damage from both wind, falling trees and flooding. One guy we confirmed has feet of goop inside his home. We are trying to figure out a way to pool resources to buy tools and cleaning supplies up north so we can hit the ground running when we get down there. There's alot of work to do and they won't let us in to do it because it's a bomb crater down there.
