There is a difference between food you can eat without cooking vs stuff you gotta cook. Plus this isn’t emergency starvation levels yet, so much of it could be “I want something decent to eat” vs slapping some canned tuna on crackers

These people have to be truly crazy if thats the case to get out and deal with endless people on the road who have zero ability to drive in snow/ice then wait in line for god knows how long.

Our home has an automatic backup generator fed by gasline but I will admit i never looked in to what super low temperatures would prevent it from functioning.

Majority of the food stock is oven/microwave/toaster reliant so we easily can be good for a week during a normal power outage by running off the generator. Guess we would have to fight each other for the last bag of Doritos if that went down.

Have no idea, you see people in big cities on TV that literally buy food on the way home from work everyday or eat out. Having grown up in hurricane area and been in some I've always had plenty. When I lived in east, TX I bought groceries once a week when I went to town.

Would be totally foreign to be 3 meals away from having to roam for food.
I can go 3 months on what I have in stock. I was one of those people buying freeze dried food before the covid panic hit.

I scored a fresh, hot, large pepperoni and sausage from Pizza Hut today and felt like I hit the jackpot. Not even Wal Mart was open today. All I've had for the past two days is sandwiches, cereal, hot tea, and a baked potato I was able to throw into the fireplace.

We do hobo dinners in our fireplace sometimes. The kids think it's fun.

Something else people in Texas don't know is that fireplaces are actually terribad for heating your home. What will happen is the fireplace will draw all the heat from all other rooms in the house, thus actually making it colder in most of you house than if you didn't have a fireplace going at all.
I don't think is how thermodynamics work... at all.
This is not how heat sources are connected at all. This is not Fringe.

Older chimney fireplaces will do that, Mythbusters even tested it. Newer ones aren't retardedly designed.

Pretty much nothing but backpacking food the past couple days. Whenever i get back from a few days out I always go straight to a good burger joint for a bacon cheeseburger and some onion rings.

Firewood is completely sold out in dfw, along with all conventional combustibles. Gas out in a lot of places too. Went to the hardware store and most the wood was gone. Wonder who’s gonna be burning treated wood, lolz.
One gas station I went to was pure insanity. At least a thousand people in it, and people were grabbing up everything.

meanwhile I have power and plenty of food so I’m laughing my ass off.

He's sort of right, he's just describing the process wrong. Older fireplaces create an air current flowing out of your house, so they warm up the room they're in but the rest of the house will be colder because warm air is only flowing out of the house, not into it.

No, and I'm correct on this. How do chimneys work in standard fire places? They draw air in from the bottom. It pulls the smoke to the top and out. Where do you suppose that air is coming from? Get your fireplace going really well and it is pulling air from your house and pushing it out the chimney.

Told me friend in Rockwall she could drive to my grandmothers and stay/eat soon as the road thaws out. She would love to cook for someone and does it all the time. Of course her parents live not far from Toledo on the LA side so she would just go sponge off them.

People are retards. Went to a park on the lake today with a cordless chainsaw and filled up my truck with some oak deadfall. Took about an hour to get a couple days of wood.
