What's so odd about this storm is it formed became named in the Pacific Ocean, crossed Mexico, pulled out 2 machete's and started yelling at the sky.

Good luck out there. Had an article this morning that Florida insurance companies deny claims at a rate 18 time higher than the rest of the country. Some companies (including State Farm) denying almost 50% of all claims.
And yet while denying those claims charging 500% what they were just a few years ago. I'm shocked we don't see insurance offices blown up at this rate down there from angry people.

Dunno what made this claim start flying around. The tropical disturbance originated in the Western Caribbean and formed into a cyclone in the Bay of Campeche.

It actually organized west of Mexico crossed and strengthened again. Models even picked up on it well in advance and weather people were like nah won't happen.

It got mashed together with what was left of tropical depression 11-e but all of the magic started in the Bay of Campeche which is where it was named. East pacific tropical cyclones rarely even turn back towards Mexico in the first place.

also, no one lives in the middle of florida, only along coasts?
You mean like these 3-4 million people? The ones who live in the center of Florida that isnt the Everglades?

We meet with our insurance broker tomorrow. For our 3 year old house that our current insurance dropped us entirely. I expect we'll be paying at least double what we currently are.

I imagine two hurricanes hitting within the last 2 weeks before we get a new policy will go great.

Is your mortgage in a realm of being able to be paid off so you can self-insure?

Nah, we've got a sub 3% interest rate. Not interested in paying it off. But even still we owe a good $200k+ on it.

I've told my wife that if a hurricane did ever come through, I hope it demolishes the house and we can just build from scratch.
