And the barrier islands to the south get flooded out as usual.
That's why I'm curious about how this area fares in a storm, cause we've got a giant barrier island between us and the ocean.

This storm has apparently made a shit ton of tornadoes. Think it's at 130+ already. That's probably more damage than the hurricane itself will do.

Ah so you are one of the predators that quoted me 10 grand to remove trees after Ian who I told to fuck off.

Not that you couldnt be larping which would be on brand for your ass.

Who you also tell to fuck off and get your neighbor who knows a local tree guy who will do it for 2 grand which is a real price. You know what people in South Florida who are not COVID NY transplants actually do. Hire local you predatory fuck (assuming again you are not larping).

Anyways my house still has power credit to FPL, our water company is a shitshow so I dont expect to return to working sewer. Manasota Key is starting to get into the surge, im on the coast side of 776 off there but @ 16 feet so I dont expect that either thankfully.

Good thing for the Low Pressure System, this would have been ridiculous without being sheered down.

Landfall Siesta Key with the eye extending to Englewood (where I live so yay for me actually) surge will be south of that which means Charlotte Harbor (Port Charlotte/ Punta Gourda/South Gulf Cove) are turbo fucked for surge. Tampa is getting the worst of the wind and rain, that things southside got sheered to shit, we got real lucky.

Yeah this will do some damage. The tornadoes will be more impressive than the hurricane. Its a shitty day but it is not a really shitty day for most of the areas.

Seeing vids of downtown Punta Gourda with restaurants having water above the doors. Charlotte Harbor man, never live near that shit.

So far I have only seen reported a max of 102mph gust. It looks like the wind sheer really gutted it as it approached the coast.

People walking in this water with energized power lines around is really not a great idea.

Flashflood warning for Tampa/St Pete just issued. Winds are shifting the other way and it's now gonna be pushing it all towards the coast. Plus 10-12" of rain.

ignoring the inland shit
Even the inland shit, while devastating, is just bad luck. Helene hit an area that was still drenched from heavy rainfall the weak before. If it hadn't been for that then the area probably sees little or no flooding.

Storm looked in my direction and we lost power already. I've never lived anywhere with less reliable power.

Sadly you will need a direct hurricane hit to get it, FPL or Duke wont do it out of the goodness of theirs hearts. We just had power for over half a hurricane before it went out. Before Ian we were like you they, did major upgrades in between when they could do it on the governments dole.

It's like this every hurricane. Hell it often goes out just in minor storms. I feel like Duke just duct taped it together every time. Hurricane isn't even to me yet.
