Closer to the water here, and we're at over 4" now. Pretty sure we've set an all-time record.

So yeah, the official record is done in Pensacola where the record from the 19th century was broken today.

Crazy shit.

After I posted this morning we got around 2 more inches. Enough that my kids made a legitimate snowman. Amazing. Southwest fucking Houston.

Honestly other than people with bald tires trying to drive in it, having snow in the south where you know it's going to melt quickly sounds amazing. What a thing for the kids to experience.

Yeah, neighborhood kids have been having a blast. Our dogs fucking love it. They keep asking to go out constantly.

Measured just now and we've got between 5-7" depending on where I measure. We've still got another 3+ hours of snow to go.

I don't know that any of the minor roads will get plowed just due to how many are in the state. Major roads maybe. So basically everyone's in wait it out mode.

It was also interesting. We had the local news on and they were very much like "this is great, go outside and play in the snow." Then a commercial for NBC Nightly News came on and it was "cities in peril, this weather is closing down everything, please panic."

I just noticed in that video the official Florida welcome sign says "the Free State of Florida."

My grandfather used to tell the story about once when it snowed in San Antonio when he was there in the Air Force. He said you could stand on any street corner and hear the cars smack into each other every time the lights changed.

Crazy, everyone is experiencing snow and I was outside earlier today mowing the yard in shorts and a T-shirt like it's nothing in 70 degree weather but 8 hours north, snow in Florida.

Well here's the opposite side of it. Queensland Aus we're in a heatwave.

My morning here was to drive to Brisbane airport to pick up my sister flying in from Canada. Non stop flight from Vancouver to Brisbane, its 9:00am when I get to the airport it was 35C which is 93F

I'm seeing people walk out into the arrival area in their jeans and jacket. She comes out with long pants, jacket and scarf. But she was ready and was able to easily get out of most of it.

By the middle of the day we seeing temperatures of 43C which is 109 in Fahrenheit. This was the temp on the cars' external temp sensor, in slow highway traffic, so the official temp was lower. But "It's real to me Dammit!"

My sister managed multiple apartment complexes in 1989 when Baton Rouge got into the single digits. Talk about a total cluster fuck pipe wise. They didn't have shit for a long time and they were quite large complexes. Someone mentioned mowing, Sunday here it was a high of 75F, 11F here right now.

8 this morning at 6, 5 hours later above freezing. Not bad. I'm sure the interstate in Baton Rouge sucked. The I-10 bridge across the MS river in Baton Rouge was closed, only the 190 "old" bridge was open which has a lot less traffic normally.

Oof - made even crappier by the fact I imagine no one has car brushes/ice scrappers or snow shovels down there, to speak nothing of plows
when it snowed here, i told my neighbors (some expats from cali shit) to put ttheir ice scrappers in the back seat

they all looked at me like i was asian

then i said "when it snows, your trunk will have 4in of snow and when you open it to get your scrapper all that snow will fall in your trunk, if you put the scrapper in the back seat, you won't get an avalanche of snow in your trunk"
