Woke up this morning, light dusting on the ground. Okay, wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Missed called at 6am. School's closed. Okay...

Check work emails. One saying "use discretion when coming in". Another saying "travel ban in some areas". Hmmm...

News station has everything about ten minutes south of me shut down completely, including every single avenue I can use to get to work. Coworker has snow up to his door handle. Meanwhile there's not enough snow on my lawn to make a snowball.

Yay for snow belts!

Pics from a friend in the middle of it all.

Buffalo has something like 4 feet of snow with more on the way. That's pretty crazy stuff!

well OBVIOUSLY they had just gotten up, the door was open to pack..the freezer

i've had to deal with that height of snow once- but that was from a drift during a ~3' snow storm aftermaththe front and driveway side of house (except for AT the garage door) had anywhere from 3-7feet of snow and right around my house on other side and rear of my house, you could see the grass for ~5-10 feet, then the snow wall.

blizzard of 78 in my area (i was 12 at the time) my parents house was like this as well- except it was ALL snow drift across the yard(they live next to a field- up a short 6' rise next to driveway ...my dad had to get a backhoe to get the driveway clear, the snow drift was over 8 feet in height(and the driveway was not cleared until ~3 days AFTER the storm, took that long for the city to clear the street in front of the house so he could call his friend from the city to get a dpw backhoe there...

it was AWESOME, the snow forts we made that year were huge- had walk in tunnels, 3-4 rooms,, until it melted.

At least they have their shovel inside the house. If that was my house I would be like "Oh good, the shovel is leaning against the house just outside the door".
I live in the south so....if you have that much snow what good does having the shovel inside do for you? Where do you shovel it to get out other than wait for it to melt?

well depending, on around the house, tossing it out a window or other door to make a path(in that case, use the lower snow covered door..but if all around is that high

Bathtub- fill with snow- put on shower, melt snow with hot water, rinse repeat until you can climb outside then,,ugh..shovel

Thanks. I guess I'll stay in my flood prone area where people build their house up on pilings. If the water comes up you can still leave via boat.

You could be the only guy in buffalo to build a house on pilings too, you would look like a genius right about now.

24F for a low here last night which is pretty low for the gulf coast this early in the year. Warmed up nice and sunny today to 65F so I sat out and smoked a cigar in the sun before it gets super cold again.

Another band is starting to move in and my coworker says it's been snowing all day where she is. This is absolutely nuts. Lived here from '90 to '96 and the worst I saw was two feet in 24 hours my senior year. Meanwhile my kids have missed this ENTIRE WEEK of school because of travel bans. Which are now expected to stay in place until Sunday.

This is absolutely nuts.

Hehe pretty much this you get some buckets and fill them up carry them to bath tub and fill that up and let it drain out as you burrow your way out enough that you can start throwing the snow outside.

When that massive quake finally hits and sinks California into the ocean, putting up with all the cold, wet, shitty winters of the East Coast will finally have been worth it.

And living in Arizona will be even more worth it cause I'll be near the beach!

A quake of that magnitude would be so strong that the entire world would be fucked up. So California still wins out.

It's been raining for the last 2 days in northern Cali, thank god. Definitely not nearly enough for this drought. Welcome to climate change, extreme weather events for everyone!
