If anyone cares. Seems like the predicted strong el nino this summer is either going to be weak or not qualify as one at all(latter Nino 3.4 dropped below the threshold last week technically so it will not have the requisite three months continuous +0.5 C requirement.) it it's still elevated just not enough, plus Nino4, 3 and1+2 are dropping, plus the trade winds have not weakened as of yet to enhance the temps in that area(means less rains in the South West)

I've been in the Midwest for 7 weeks and I'm experiencing my first tornado warning, sirens and all. I don't even know what to do and my building doesn't have a basement :p

Find an interior room without any windows, like a bathroom, if you are afraid when the tornado warnings go off. We've had the sirens go off here six times this summer alone, and we've had brutal winds that have really destroyed a lot of homes locally.

had a tornado in Revere ~10 miles from where i work yesterday, very rare to have tornado's near boston, (i'm ~20 miles north of boston) at the time, the sky looked like it was 9pm. so dark, then it just poured...my kids(twins almost 10 and a 13yr old-he is a councillor in training at the camp since they only go to 12yr old at camp) at summer camp had to go to the high school's gym for the day.

gotta love weather, today is nice pleasant ~80...no clouds

All of our rain decided to go east and water the ocean. Thanks, mother nature.

yeah, we are struggling with this water thing really bad. Its to the point where they only allow us to water our lawn 2 times a week and its some insane hours like after 9pm until 5am or something stupid. Cant wash cars in the driveway anymore, if busted it could be a 500 dollar fine.

They are getting strict.

ya the sw REALLY needed an el nino this year... for the rain (no i am not being sarcastic..they do need the rain though the drought is not as bad as it could be. it's just that there are more people using more water= less water to go around

anyone that wants to keep track of the equatorial pacific key area:

OOPC | State of the ocean climate | Surface indices | Pacific | Nino 3.4

in the past month, the "key" 3.4 nino area has dropped 1c in temp. and if it continues to drop (probably won't) it will move into la nina territory (0.2c to go roughly) meaning even LESS rain.

Had rain 3 times last week for us in vegas. It was hella nice a few days ago, like 83 high and 73 low, in August! Was some seriously weird shit. Now its going back to the usual 105ish.
