NGL. That is pretty impressive.
Also I agree with Booze. I have nothing, absolutely nothing in common with the shitlibs in those replies attacking RD.
Maybe complete hugging is the way to go.

That's pretty amazing. Although I'm assuming they just reused the footings, but still, seems like it takes some crews more than three days to fill potholes.

Might rain tomorrow finally. Flood stage of the MS river in Baton Rouge is 45 feet and I've seen it up to 51-52 feet where the water flows up under the levee.

Now the river stage is 4.3 feet and falling. River traffic from New Orleans up to Memphis and above is slowing to a crawl. Most of the stuff shipped from the midwest on barges like grain, corn, wheat etc... is lining up to get down the river when the river rises.

No rain today and none north of us. Need a tropical storm to come up the river or something. This close to the river shutting down to traffic ><

MS River valley really needs rain before traffic on the MS river to the gulf is cloased including the intracoastal crossing of the MS river.

Found this cam of the river in Vicksburg, MS which is 150 miles north of Baton Rouge, only one I could find. Baton Rouge is much lower. Normally there is no "bank" along the river it's right up on the levee. I watched it for a few, just no traffic.

2/3 of the country needs rain.
Now a 2,000 barge backup on the river which I'm sure is helping supply issues.
Corp of Engineers is building a 1,000 foot long underwater dam to keep saltwater from flowing up the river.
Corp of Engineers dredging in a dozen places.
River bank in Baton Rouge they found that was possibley one that sank in 1915. Bridge in pic is the I-10 bridge.

Sunk boat that maybe sank in 1915.

I guess swimming across the Mississippi isnt that challenging at the moment. Should be lots of peeps doing it now so they can lay claim to it.

It may be more dangerous, for a longer period of the swim. The Mississippi river is one of the most polluted (natural and man made debris). So still a lot of shit to get slammed into as it pushes you down stream. A shallower river also means more of the heavy shit that was deep below, is now closer to the surface.

The more gradual decline of the river bottom on a shallower river also means a swimmer stays longer in the...

Swim?

I think at this point you could Jesus the moment and say you remember when you walked across the Mississippi.

More bad news. River falls much further the water intakes for the 100 or so chemical plants between New Orleans and Baton Rouge are going to have "issues". It rained a bunch in MO but needs a lot more.

In the past I did a lot of work when the water was low on docks for the plants since they get up getting hit by 1000' oil tankers and such. Lot of work on the water intakes as well. Everything in the plants and refineries generates heat and is cooled by the river water.

It was 78 degrees in RI today lol. It should be like 55 average, 60 top of the normal range. Record high for this weather station is 69.

It's really weird to stand outside as the sun is going down and realize you're not going to experience outdoor temperatures like this again until late May at the earliest.
