Easy bro. He read it in a book.
and the book was written by the guy responsible for thisThe ultimate real result: Glen - a 3 month radical transformation | Ultimate PerformanceReal results or Science you read on the internet?

Regardless this whole debate is stupid - there's no mention of how much fat/carbohydrates the subjects of the studies onhttp://bayesianbodybuilding.com/the-myth-of-1glb-optimal-protein-intake-for-bodybuilders/ were eating. The 12week plan is an aggressive fat loss diet which heavily restricts carbs - so if you're not eating carbs you're not getting the muscle synthesis benefits that eating carbs with protein postworkout provides - so it makes sense to up the protein. Later in the program when carbs are reintroduced the advice is to scale back the protein. Pretty simple.

Yeah he does stave himself of water at the end for the epic selfie.

I feel really good following the diet plan though.

Microcycle 0 haha!

I'm following the diet exactly minus shakes and having a whey protein bar thing from the gym instead. I've replaced the strength training with cardio (10 mins on cross trainer to warm up, 5 kilometers on rowing machine, as much running as I can manage) just to get myself into a routine. I'm going to bring a friend soon and we are going to figure out how to do the excerises.

You see, while I am going to be failing at pullups, we have asian guys doing the excercise UPSIDE DOWN like a gymnast (they are above the bar) and even the gym staff are saying "what the fuck". So slightly intimidated.

Still I'm getting some results though obviously not as advertised since I'm not doing the meat of the book yet.

What's a good pedometer app for the iPhone? I need to start keeping track of how much walking I do in a day, since I'm always running around.

so you're just using the book for the diet advice at the moment? If you're not lifting weights that alters things...significantly e.g you really don't need a protein bar after finishing cardio - all that's doing is replacing some of the calories you burnt off.

I would spend a few weeks doing weights before starting the 12wp weight program, just to make sure you're comfortable with the lifts...definitely try and get someone with decent experience to make sure your form is ok

I feel like we're gonna have a Zombie Chris on our hands soon. Eating shitloads of protein, not lifting at all, complaining about terrible pain and then pretending he's fine. That last part sounds similar to hypothermic euphoria. Dude doesn't even realize he's dying.

I dunno, isn't Rowing kinda like Weights? Wouldn't you get a similar effect though it would take longer and probally have a limit? Rowers in ancient times had muscles? I'm genuinely curious of the difference weights provide and why (I'm still planning on doing them soon).

I had a little bit of the piri piri spices again today and yesterday and I had a little bit of the pain again but not as much as before when I used LOTS of spices, so it's definitly that. I've been fine all week having italian herbs, curry powder or chinese five spice.

Umm...no. Rowing is cardio. Weight training is resistance training. The amount of resistance water or a rowing machine can provide is minimal at best, but you can't increase it. Having not lived in ancient times, I have no idea what their muscles looked like.

Lmao yes it is true that rowing can build a decent physique - you could tell who was a slave in ancient Rome because one side of their body would be muscular in comparison to the other, an effect of rowing.

In modern times, you're much better just get all swoll off some iron dawg.

If you're just doing cardio but you feel the diet is working for you (eg you're losing weight) then fair enough, but the physique you'll end up with will be very different to the one you'd get from lifting weights

If you're fat just lose the weight until you have like 13% body fat. If you end up skinny oh well you didn't have much muscle packed on.

Once you are no longer fat up your calories and start lifting if you want a more powerful look.

Shit's simple.

I've been losing about 3/4 of a pound a week for most of my cut (started the last week of December). The last two weeks of February I kind of stalled out at 167.5 though. Was kind of disappointing, because I feel like my calories are already crazy low (2100). But then this past week, I dumped 2 pounds overnight. At first I figured it was just dehydration, but it's been a consistent weight for about 4 or 5 days now. Pretty crazy to me that weight would just fall off like that.

So now I'm looking at hopefully 6 more weeks of this. I'm going until a have well defined abs (10-12% BF), and I'm hoping that I don't have to go below 160. The top 4 abs are starting to come in, I'd say within 2 weeks I'll be able to see them all the time.

Exciting stuff, because then I can start eating at maintenance for a while (+400-500 calories)!

WHAT!? That is from just rowing one side of a ship right? A rowing machine won't do that!?

Speaking of one side of your body being more muscular than the other. I recently started doing single leg pressed and found out my right leg is way stronger(easy 30lb more max) than my left from all my years skateboarding.

I remembered when I was younger you used to be able to see a size difference in the legs but figured with all the biking I've done they would of evened out by now.
