BMI is fucking STUPID. I remember it told me I was obese when I had a 4 pack and was benching 295.

BMI is meant to be 'a good indicator of variability in energy reserves in individuals with asedentarylifestyle, but not in athletes...'
Look at page 9 in this WHO document:
http://whqlibdoc.who.int/trs/WHO_TRS_854.pdf

In short: Used correctly, sedentary being key, BMI is an excellent indicator for health.

Bonus: There is a chapter for pregnant and lactating women too (chapter 3) for lindz / anyone with a vagina.

I've argued with dipshits on these forums about this before but calipers are way less accurate than people think they are, especially for a measurement of what your actual bodyfat is. Their efficacy in testing changes in bodyfat is a diff story.
Way to contradict yourself in two sentences, and their effectiveness in measuring progress is exactly the reason I cited...you really are the biggest joke in this thread

I contradicted myself because I gave two completely diff scenarios and said they work diff in each?

They are inaccurate in measuring true bodyfat %, and the changes they measure are influenced by a million diff things, but they'd still measure a change. I said its a "diff story" I didn't say they are reliable.

You are the dumb cunt who believes that the trainer you are paying hundreds to do your measurements and spoon feed you diet "recommendations" from a Poliquin training manual is 1) calculating your bodyfat with laser precision 2) not lying in any way.

If you ever go to buy a car let me know so I can take 6 months to quit my job and become a salesman where you live. That way I can retire after you buy a car.

Lemmings dum de dum. You make Dashel look like Einstein.

Actually you are the dumb cunt that is jumping to unfounded and illogical assumptions about my trainer. I find it lol that you have jumped on a soapbox all because I mentioned that I had purchased some Poliquin brand BCAAs, this isn't The Shire and Poliquin is not Sauron lol or the Candyman rofl. I am sure there are a lot of Poliquin fanboys out there who lap up everything he says, countered by people who think he's an idiot and spare no energy in trying to educate everyone else...it's one extreme to another and you are just at the opposite end of the fanatical disciple scale, but still a fanatic nonetheless.

Like I saidm I'll post before and after pics...just over 4 weeks to go, judge me and him then #puttingmyselfontheline

Well its been almost a year, I don't think of it as "just had a baby" anymore. :\ And yeah should have mentioned I was nursing. As I said above though, it just feels different. Can't explain it much more beyond that.

No did not get dipped but measured my body fat on my own and am at 13.1% which is really low for me. BMI is at 18.3.
I'd be shocked if you were anywhere near 13% body fat as a woman. A "thin" woman that anyone would consider attractive is +/- 20%. 13% is like to a long-term anorexic or competitive bodybuilder - well past the point where you've lost your boobs and stop having your menstrual cycle due to hormonal imbalance.

As far as your weight loss, it's probably nursing. Milk has a ton of energy in it, and that energy comes straight from you. It's got something like 22 kcal/oz, which can easily add up to 500+ per day. That's like 45-60 minutes of jogging for "free". If you're controlling your diet at all it would be super easy to lose weight. My wife lost ten pounds in six months and she was eating like a fiend.

Awesome, four weeks to go until a man from a video game forum posts pictures of himself shirtless.

Yeah 13% is probably a retarded measurement. I wouldn't really believe anything I do at home. I'm 5'7 so at that weight, I'm pretty close to my normal, just less than I'd like to be and was with my last babies.

Notice any changes in the mirror Lindz? I would say just make sure you're eating enough. I have to tell my wife the same thing, we have a 10 month old and she is nursing as well.

Update for me

December 1 2012: 205 lbs
Feb 26 : 189 lbs
March 14: 190

Full diet break / refeed for ~ 2 weeks : not eating crazy amounts of calories but had oatmeal, bread and pasta if I wanted. Ate enough but not excessive.

March 30: 192 lbs Began strict primal/paleo again and intermittent fasting

April 4th: 187 lbs

I would be more interested in the waist size loss versus weight loss personally. I was under the assumption that weight can fluctuate anywhere from 1-5 pounds throughout the day. That and if you're working out, muscle mass vs fat blah blah blah. I'll let the weight loss maniacs argue that point. I know when I ran through a month of the paleo diet, I weighed / measured myself at the beginning and the end, and didn't check at all in the middle. Lost 4 inches on the waist and 25 lbs or whatever, but I'm a bit bigger due to putting on some muscle.

The wife approves, but the wallet doesn't. Have to pickup a whole new set of clothes since nothing fucking fits anymore.

Waist is always last to go for me. Just based on previous experience I lean out everywhere else then get to the stubborn fat, and finally kill that. From everything I've read eating enough protein, taking it slow and continuing to lift heavy weight will mitigate muscle loss as much as possible. So we will see. I was fairly lean at 170 last time around, this time I hope it's closer to 180.

Caloric deficit gets shit done, I just reduced my intake from about 2200 a day to 1700 and I've lost about 16 lbs in 3 weeks without changing my exercise regiment at all.

I was never really "fat" (weighed 218 and am 6"1 with a pretty muscular build) just looking to run a bit faster. Think I want to lose like 8 more lbs.

Took a 2 week break from dieting... Amazed at how much my sex drive (went from not wanting it 3 times a week to 2+ times a day) and just overall energy level increased. Starting back on the 1700ish calorie a day diet though, because other than the issues I noted... I have lost a shit-ton of weight over the past couple months, and I'd like to get back to it.
