Less carbs, more fiber, more protein. Doesn't seem like much for each 100g serving but I suppose it adds up if you're a rice/quinoa fiend. I refuse to eat either.

I have expanded my palette across many a new things in my weight loss journey, things I never imagined I'd enjoy eating; quinoa is not one of those things.

Regardless of the health benefits, I do not like the texture/mouth feel of quinoa. Rice however I'm a-ok with! I don't eat it every day, but it's by far my go to "starch" item. Even then, I consume about a cup of cooked rice when I do eat it, so that 4g of protein I'm not getting isn't having an discernible impact.

It's actually like 1.7g per 100g of rice/quinoa...

Who in their right mind would ever eat frozen > fresh?
This stuffI like a lot because it tastes the best for me out of all the frozen crap, and is very convenient. It's not fresh, but it's ready very quick if you need to just toss it in the microwave for a few minutes and eat. I only get the vegetables, though, not the meals.

1. Water > All. Suffer through whatever you need to come to this conclusion.
2. Anyone who says "ditch rice" is a faggot. Also, brown rice causes AIDS.
Yeah I drink a lot more water now than I used to. Like 10 times more. But I still have a cheat for a sugar soda or sugar tea. The frequency of what I do today versus my past is so much better it won't really hurt anything.

Agree on the rice thing. Having a chinese wife, I'm eating rice one way or another every single day. Either rice normal, rice soup, rice noodles, or whatever.

It's also funny how americans are so "trendy" when they get on diets. My wife rolls her eyes, and says all you need to do is get on a balance. Eat a big ass candy bar if you want but you have to balance it out with other good things before you get a second. I wish I could eat like she does, but I just can't. She eats far too exotic for me - damn healthy I know - but just too out there. For example, she'll eat wheat gluten balls, or shrimp paste (basically shrimp grinded up into a paste). It's not that I don't like the taste of it (I love shrimp), but it reminds me of chicken nuggets in that they probably use the worst grade shrimp to grind up into that paste. Plus, it's always imported from China, which makes it worse.

I feel like a fucking camel sometimes. I'll pound down like 3 liters of water to everyone else drinking a single can of soda. My weight goes up and down pretty hard just on water. I'm just thirsty all the time while I'm working.

How the hell does your wife eat shrimp paste straight up? It's used as a salt substitute along with flavoring dishes. That's fucked up Aladain. You tell your wife I said so.

I didn't mean to imply she eats it straight up, just that she uses it in stuff. I have no idea what its purpose is, I'm not touching that shit. I should take a picture of my pantry sometime.

A cup is slightly more than double that cooked, so I "slightly more than doubled" that value and then rounded. Hence the 4g number. It's actually closer to 3.7, but uh yeah, that .3 matters even less than the 4g.

Glycemic index is 53 for quinoa and 112 for white rice if that stuff matters to you.
Unless you're eating a bowl of rice or a bowl of quinoa by themselves (what the fuck? you're gross) glycemic index means fuck all.

Or unless you're diabetic I guess. I wouldn't know honestly, so no comment on that front.

What am I missing?
Almost everything about quinoa is better than the white rice I'm sure what you're arguing. If you prefer white rice that is fine but you can't simultaneously argue trying to min/max in the gym and then proclaim white rice is "close enough."

This whole conversation is stupid. My post workout carbs include sweet potato, brown rice, white rice, protein pancakes (made with oats), oatmeal. Even a bagel post workout is not going to hinder anyones efforts.

Just found this absolute gem on /r/ketogains

"I've only been on Keto for about 9 1/2 weeks. I was drinking avocado oil, about 5-600kcal worth/daily in order to keep calories high enough without overeating on protein. For me, bulking on keto is a nightmare. I'm going back to drinking oil in order to maintain 4,000kcal/day. I'm not sure if I'll end up gaining or just maintain."
