Soooo...Two weeks into Atkins (well tomorrow is day 14). I have lost 13 pounds. I went from 312 to 299. My cravings are gone. The sugar withdrawal is gone. My HEADACHES are gone!

Silly question for those that have done this diet or similar. Did you re-introduce carbs/sugars back at all? I am really not missing the breads or sugars. Will my ass die or some shit if I keep this out my diet? I am taking a men's one a day to help with what I might be missing. Also I am wondering how much red meat a person can really expect to eat, and stay healthy.
My plan allows me to have 2 cheats meals, one should be a refeed (carbs). It's pretty bad tho, I'm doing this w/ my wife and if we have a refeed/cheat meal on fri night, we are knocked out until sat afternoon from all the carb overload. Normally it takes 2 days (the weekend) to get rid of "carb weight" usually it's like 2-3lbs, yea sounds crazy, but the carbs just makes you suck in all the water and stuff too.

You don't have to worry about the red meat will kill you thing, tons of ppl on Keto, you should read up on that too since imo Keto/Atkins almost similiar at best you can get some affiliated recipes. (yea, yea nag that if you're on keto, you want to be in the state of ketosis, etc... i'm just talking from a deitary prospective).

Did you check out to see if you need fish oils? i'm taking multi-vitimins and 8capsules of 1000mg fish oils daily.

Also for coffee, if your coffee is bitter, you need more coffee or your coffee is stank.

Also since he is 300 fucking pounds (and a lot of muscle) his BMR must be off the charts... if he makes any kind of change to his diet it's going to be a huge result.

I just submitted a thesis based around the idea that the Keys' Seven Countries Study and the McGovern Report basically poisoned the American public and is an important factor in why we have a systemic obesity problem. And why HFCS is found in fucking everything (oh hey Archer Daniel Midland, enjoying your monopoly on the processed food industry?).

All this keto talk gave me a boner, sorry.

Its fucked up isnt it? You ask anyone out on the street what a good diet consists of they will 99% answer low fat. The entire western world is brainwashed with this shit now. Go into any grocery store and see what 80% of the packages have on them...LOW FAT, heart healthy, and yet riddled with simple carbs and sugars. And people honestly wonder why the epidemic of type 2 diabetes and heart disease while the entire western world has been eating their "healthy" for the better part of 3 decades now. And yet the FDA will still not admit this shit is fucking dead wrong.

My wife was given the low carb/high fat diet by her Dr and when she told her psych Dr about it she was told "high fat? How is that supposed to help you? You're going to gain so much weight "

I thought it was funny

Why not just use straight up heavy whipping cream in the coffee if you want fat+coffee? Each tablespoon has like 50 calories of pure fat and like 0.4g carb. Never tried that buletproof coffee but cant imagine it tasting any better than heavy cream in the coffee.
You are correct. Over the course of my Keto experiments I also used cream. I used butter mainly because I bought into the grass fed line.

The guys in the other thread were not kidding, keeping carbs under 20g is going to be super hard. I made up some bags of nuts for breakfasts, 2oz split half and half between cashews and almonds, and that's already like 13g.

Yeah, the majority of that 13lbs was water weight for certain. But that happens whenever anyone goes on a diet really. The trick, regardless of the diet (as long as you are at a caloric deficit) is sticking with it. Really depends on willpower and just how much of your life revolved around eating (and the types of food you were eating) before and after you start a diet. I personally found that simply reducing portion size across the board was the most effective way, but I also wasn't a added sugar person to begin with.

chocolate chip cookies are evil. Finally got under 7% bf (roughly), but man, my psychological understanding of what a portion size is has been lagging behind what I should be eating. I ought to count calories better than I do, but I wing it pretty much everytime and just go ham working out to make sure I'm making progress.

You cutting for a show or something? I've always heard that 9% (and lower) body fat wasn't sustainable long term. My goal has always been 12-15% so I never dug deeper to challenge that assertion.

Lmao that's a load of shit. Sub 8% gets tough to maintain, but 10% is fine. 12-15% you're still pretty fat.

Sub 12% for an athlete or someone who spends in excess of 10 hours a week in the gym(or you know, nutjob inactive vegans) is probably pretty easy, but I'm not sure how many people in this thread fall into those categories. 10% takes substantially more commitment than 12% though and I certainly wouldn't call anyone between 12 and 15 "pretty fat." Unless you are specifically comparing them to athletes or gymrats, 12-15% is in pretty great shape and I'd wager that the overwhelming majority of this board (and most of the world, most likely) would love to be that type of "fat" hah.

It all depends how you qualify the %'s.. because everyone seems to argue every time over what "%" is what.

Body Fat Percentage Photos of Men Women - BuiltLean

Going off of the photos in this article, I don't think the 6-7% guy is sustainable naturally without injecting... something.

9-10% should be sustainable with a normal diet and regular activity.

Yeah, there's a lot of factors in how body fat% is carried and "looks." Some people have more subcutaneous fat which would affect just how "tight" they would look and how much of their musculature/veins would be visible at various percentages. Others have less which would make them look a little less tight at various comparative percentages.

The guy at 15% has very little muscle mass on him in those pictures, and would look substantially more "ripped" if he had more, as it would improve definition substantially. I would imagine if someone with some active lifting time at 15% would look closer to what the guy at 10-12% looks like. But yeah, there's just a lot of factors to how people carry bodyfat in general for the looks deal to really be a solid judge. Abs being one area of just genetically lucky or not, for example. I know when I was at 15% I certainly looked "tighter" than their chosen individual.

I have a friend who is taller than me (6'1), weighs less (~180), but can never get his abs to show no matter how skinny he gets. And you guys know I have a small upper body for the most part, he's very much top heavy. But even at 6'0 and currently 208 you can see abs coming out of me lol. Genetics are an odd thing.

Still need to cut probably 8-10 pounds before I figure out where to go from there.

Just like some chicks have shelf-ass and some have weird mom ass. People's bodies are just a little different, some people's abs poke out a little more. If you want the perfect abercrombie model 8 pack blame your mom and dad. Haha.

Still doing a good job on this diet.

Last couple days for breakfast consisted of 3 egg ham and cheese omelette. Lunch has been either a salad with chicken (blue cheese dressing). Or a steak (about 6oz.) with strawberries and raspberries for my sweets.

My snacks have been either a half a handful of cashews or I have had one of those Atkins bars.

No breads, and tried my best to keep my sugars low as possible. No Fruity or Cocoa Pebbles. Zero junk foods, unless you count the Atkins bars I guess.

Last night I purchased those 30 calorie 3g carb 2g sugar chocolate pudding pops. (Insert Coz joke)

Thoughts? Should I give up something on this food list? Seems decent to me.
