Because I know a lot of white/american women and I'm very familiar with Viet culture? It's just a lot different, man.
Best kind of hybrid, born overseas but came here as a toddler so she's not an FOB but still retains a lot of the culture.
My friends wife is Japanese and complained about her job constantly and my wife is white and rarely talks about her job. Should I decide race is the leading factor to this or should I just decide some humans are different than other humans? Nah I'm going to go with racism. Asian people can't shut the fuck up about their jobs thank god I married whitey so I don't have to put up with that shit.
My friend married a korean who was adopted as a toddler. She's pretty much a regular wvian with a pancake head.

I get the sense Tenks has never ventured outside of his culture.
An example: Women in the US tend to be thinking about their wedding waaay before it happens. Chinese? At least Shanghaise, not so much. I had no idea what to do, she had no idea what to do, my parents were too far away to help so it ended up being a random scramble.

This actually brings up a relevant question.
Does your wife's parents freak out when you spend money? My wifes parents cannot comprehend our income (They couldn't even comprehend Noodles income). They lived through the cultural revolution etc (sent to border of Russia to farm).
Taking them out to a $10-15 a plate restaurant is an ordeal.

My wife's parents don't like to eat out, but when they do it's always extremely questionable-hygiene authentic vietnamese places where everyone eats mystery-meat out of a boiling pot and you're like wtf and order a bowl of pho for yourself so you can eat something that probably wasn't killed out back and then everyone wants to eat what you have and you hardly get any then they all stick you with the bill anyway even though of my 7 in-laws (wife + 3 siblings + 3 wives/husbands) 6 of them are doctors.

My wife's parents are american rednecks and they get pissed when we spend money.
I spent $3k on a bed, $1k on a dining room table, and $1k on solid wood benches and chairs and they freaked out. They wanted to know why we needed a new bed (their grandparents gifted us a full bedroom set when we bought our house). Apparently we should suffer through a stiff mattress and bed frame that is nearly breaking when I give the wife the jackhammer. Of course, I did not mention the last part but they should've known.

My rule when traveling in China is to eat at the B rated restaurants. This tends to mean their hygiene is good enough and they haven't paid regulators the requisite bribe to get an A.
