Oh yeah, always check out where the car came from with Carmax as they get transported allllll over… if you care about that kinda thing. Like with salt roads or whatever
Selling to them is easy and always a little better than KBB instant cash offers. Good to have and use vs the dealers that will call you on those KBB offers to kick it up a smidge.
I have known a few people that bought from them… its like… a “dealership” exp, they have all the financing, add ons, warranty options etc… but its..”not a dealership” lol
They used to ship all over and only far is at cost… now… even one store to another for me thats like 10mils is 199$ lol
They are great to go try out cars, you can wonder around the whole lot and everything’s unlocked. Now test drive, you gotta talk to a bro
If you want cars that everyone else was dumping to the quickest and easiest online/local buyer? I've looked at probably 4-5 cars at carmax including having one shipped in. All with problems easily spotted in person but not on listings.Anyone bought through Carmax? How’d it go?
So unimpressed with the dealerships in my area
Fast in a straight line, still have awful suspension/brakes to support it.guys i need you to talk me out of picking up a Tesla
Really want a plaid cus weeeeee gooooofasssst but its such a ridiculous purchase i can't justify 100k+ for it.
but with all the faggots getting butthurt over Elon and selling their tesla's as some sort of protest (lol) i'm seeing 2021-23 Plaids for 40-50k, 2017 ish P100Ds for 15k, etc
I haven't driven a plaid, but I have driven a ludicrous p100d and it was a ton of fun. Now you've got me looking too.guys i need you to talk me out of picking up a Tesla

Yeah, it won’t be carving any canyons.Fast in a straight line, still have awful suspension/brakes to support it.
driving normally you should get at least decent tire life. Insurance will suck balls. IIRC the toke was only mandatory for a short time in 23? Something like that.I haven't driven a plaid, but I have driven a ludicrous p100d and it was a ton of fun. Now you've got me looking too.
I guess I'd look into how much you'd get assfucked by registration and insurance in your state. My state (Michigan) it's based on the original sale price of the vehicle and they tack on another 150 for EVs. It looks like I'd have to pay about 900 initially and 600 a year. Looks like insurance would run 2-3k per year here based on some reddit posts.
Other downsides:
Yoke steering wheel although I've heard it's not terrible when you get used to it. If you do need any repairs, wait time can be extremely long. Higher likelihood some psychopath might key your car. Just speculation, but I assume the plaid eats tires, so, factor those additional costs in.
My brother in law has a 2015 or 16 I think, has been his daily driver. It's had pretty negligible battery degradation/capacity reduction, around 5% IIRC.No i don't want any EV they are shit for a multitude of reasons I just wanna gooooofassssst weeeee.
Its literally to be a toy and you are right that I can't justify 50k for a toy but some of the older S trims around 15-20k? I'm sorely tempted. My concern on the older ones is battery cycles remaining.
Its not like I'm going to rewire my house or anything, my laundry room is right next to my garage I'd end up just unplugging my drier to charge it, it wouldn't be my daily driver it's a toy, like a grown up power wheel.

Look I know you were just trying to help (maybe, you could just be trolling me) but shit like this really grinds my gears, fair warning i'm getting ready to light you up now.Take a look at a used Porsche Taycan EV ~20k miles, they can be had for like 60k. I drove one a few months back and it was wayyyyy better then a Plaid, and nothing about it has that "cheap" feeling you get with Teslas sometimes. They are having a hard time selling them cause people who buy porches want the sound and feel of an ICE sportscar, but if you are looking into EV's anyways its a much better option then a Plaid.
Forget canyons, just getting too frisky on the highway and suddenly need to stop might have a fun timeYeah, it won’t be carving any canyons.

Absolute nonsense, the model 3 performance or the model S plaid are perfectly capable sports sedans. I sold my 997.2 911 Turbo when I got my Model S, because I never drove the 911 anymore as the S was too fun to drive.Yeah, it won’t be carving any canyons.

Holy shit, schizo.Look I know you were just trying to help (maybe, you could just be trolling me) but shit like this really grinds my gears, fair warning i'm getting ready to light you up now.
Why quote my post or reply to me if you aren't going to bother reading anything I said? Your post got every. single. thing. wrong and is the worst possible advice to my question.
Take a look at Porsche? Why? has their owner pissed off liberal faggots to the extent that they are dumping their cars at a massive discount out of some sort of misguided protest? No? So you want me to pay fair market value then? Oh that fair market value is 50% more expensive than the car I was originally looking at but have since passed on due to it being too expensive? So you want me to look at an even more expensive one, and what do I get for that money? Lets look at my posts and see what I said:
I don't give a shit about EVs they are faggot cars
I only care about weee gooofassstttttt which by that I mean, in case you misunderstood, the 0-60 time of the vehicle
It's only a toy, an adult power wheel, it will by no means be a daily driver (hence, I don't give a shit about the luxury features. I would take the fucking seats out and sit on a milk crate if it shaved time off the 0-60 speed)
As a Toy, 40K is too much, i'm looking at the slightly older 15-20k versions.
So based on the above you can infer that I am looking for the quickest 0-60 for the lowest possible price, which you would had known had you read my posts.
You then recommend a used porsche who's base model is 50% more expensive than the top end Plaid I was looking at, which has a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds which I can get from a suped up ricer ICE car for 10k.
the best used Porsche Taycan, the Turbo S, is 2.6 seconds and the cheapest you're looking at is 80-90k, which is basically the cost of a brand new 2025 plaid, while still being 0.7 seconds slower. I can get a used Model S P100D for 15k with a 2.28s 0-60 speed. hell I can buy 6 of the mother fuckers for the cost of a single Taycan Turbo S.
The only comparable porsche is the 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (same speed as a Plaid) which costs 230k.
So no, your suggestion isn't in anyway better than a Plaid, it is objectively worse in every way that matters.
S is fine, there's plenty of reviewers that are pro tesla and still said the early plaid etc straight up felt unsafe at times because of not being well rounded if you pushed things.Absolute nonsense, the model 3 performance or the model S plaid are perfectly capable sports sedans. I sold my 997.2 911 Turbo when I got my Model S, because I never drove the 911 anymore as the S was too fun to drive.
These Tesla haters are too much.
Yea I guess you should definitely trust the reviewers not a guy who owns one.S is fine, there's plenty of reviewers that are pro tesla and still said the early plaid etc straight up felt unsafe at times because of not being well rounded if you pushed things.
I'll take your word on handling, I haven't driven many sporty cars to compare to the Model 3 (formerly owned), Y (current), and X (loaner) that I do have experience with.Absolute nonsense, the model 3 performance or the model S plaid are perfectly capable sports sedans. I sold my 997.2 911 Turbo when I got my Model S, because I never drove the 911 anymore as the S was too fun to drive.
