What vehicle do you drive?

Besides the warming, figured like most batteries also have decreased performance period. Wonder how new those chargers are, time does fly I suppose since last time I had looked for giggles. (Probably 3 years ago when I was first drooling @ them. (One of the Dr's @ the hospital at the time had one. )

Their upcoming "poor mans" tesla I'm interested to see how neutered the performance it is. I mean no ludicrous mode of course, but hoping still get a fair amount of the torquey zip.

I'd have maybe gotten one of the plebian other brand electrics but I think until some of the models coming this year, the range was just too low to even do 1 round trip to work and back.

Probably decreased power output in the severe cold, but you're not going to need 500+hp in the severe cold anyway. Just need to get where you are going.

And yea the Nissan Leaf or the BMW i3 and such, the range is in the 80-90 mile area... which really is cutting it too close in most situations. Even a short drive to work, which is kinda BS.

Same car I'd probably always take the newer one. Miles don't really hurt cars as much as you might think, and the features of the newer one will be a lot better. It'd get harder if the older one had absurdly low miles or the newer one was like 150k miles or something crazy. 50k to 80k is really nothing though.

The newer one is going to cost significantly more even with the miles, though.

Interesting, my lease on my Frontier is coming up at the end of the year and I'm considering going back down to a sedan/wagon/crossover, potentially used. I know Venza and Crosstour aren't in production anymore, and they come in V6 w/ AWD compared with an HRV with V4 ... Needs to be something heavish with AWD, but enough power to pull itself.

If you have to pick a soulless, transportation appliance; both will be reliable and have good MPG. Pick the nicer color.

All cars are soulless in that they are pieces of metal and plastic and glass and rubber. Incidentally all humans are also soulless because its not really a thing. If I stay with a truck I'll be happy too, I just would like a slightly smaller form factor with more pep and a bit lower to the ground. If I could choose I would own a a transformer that could turn into a new car everyday, like a fast little mini, or an Aston Martin, or a caterham, or a challenger, or a 1960s stingray or a monster truck to run people over but these are not reasonable options as I still need to get from point A to B and I often deal with inclement conditions.

Unless you deal with conditions that need lots of ground clearance (i.e. off roading) a truck doesn't handle inclement weather any better than any car.

I hear ya, loud and clear and I completely agree. However, there are many cars that are much more emotionally engaging, despite being a hunk of metal. And because we're humans, it's easy to assign a personality to cars and trucks that make them seem more than they really are. I loved my Z06's. I hated my Honda Accord. Both were metal. Both moved me around. But, the Honda never "moved me" emotionally and was miserable to drive.

With a little less smart-ass, I'll reiterate what I said earlier. Both of your options will be fine. Both will be reliable. You need to weigh the benefits of both knowing: the newer car has more tech and is more modern, but also driven harder in a shorter period of time, which will likely require more immediate maintenance. The older car was babied a bit more, but will have dated technology and the appearance, inside and out, may not be as appealing.

I have driven in New York for 12 years, I have driven a Pontiac Bonneville, I have driven a Hyundai Elantra, and a Nissian Frontier. I can state that the truck drives better than any of the previous unequivocally, with or without snow tires in almost every bad storm that's happened the last 12 years (I don
't know why I always get stuck in shit but I do).

Weight and *body dementions first
AWD or 4WD second
Ground clearance and snow tires tie at third.

I'd say really is case by case. Sometimes older have better engine options. With my tundra other than grill and a few electronic things is same as 10 years ago so a good condition older one might suit you better if you don't need whiz bangs and want to save$

Yea, all cars are not created equal and some are vastly superior than others, this especially frustrates me when women buy the first car they test drive. They have absolutely nothing to compare it to. It all comes down to personal preference and some people just don't give a shit about cars, which is fine, to each their own.

If you want to see how bad a car can be, get a rental Chrysler 200C, I would have fired any fuck face that tried to let that car leave the factory if it would have been under my watch.

I've got about 8 months left to decide so starting to think if I want to walk away, buy it out, or release on a new model year.

To me it seems like unless there's a very specific feature that makes or breaks the car, going with less wear on the engine would make more sense, the previous owner might have handled with more care. Of course I do like rear facing cameras and those side view mirror cameras that are starting to come out in recent years.
