The only movie I got to see in high school was Ferris Bueller's day off.

When teachers go on strike it is anything goes obviously.

For years during elementary school whenever the weather was bad or we just had to burn time the gym teacher would show up and put on Hoosiers. I don't know how it always came down to him but it did and he put on Hoosiers. Recess canceled? Hoosiers. Half day and literally nothing to do? Hoosiers. Girls have some special assembly to go to? Hoosiers. I guess it was impossible to fuck up?

think saw the outsiders 4-5 times in 11 grade english class alone, teacher had a big thing for robert frost. had a sociology class, where the teacher would record movies off hbo and show them in class each week. he was tennis coach and they had to teach so many classes each year, so they mostly phoned it in.

A history professor I had in college went on a huge rant about how American kids don't like history because high school history is all taught by athletics coaches who don't give a fuck about history but just teach classes to justify their paycheck when they're not coaching. He's not wrong, all of my history classes were taught by coaches.

My history teachers would literally do that, tell us to read chapters, disappear for 30 minutes come back and have us take a test. That or put on a movie. All coaches were history teachers except 1 Iand I think he was a track coach

I went to a engineering magnet high school and we didn't have coaches at all. No sports.

Nixon was a great president.
Well there was that whole "illegal bombing of Cambodia that directly led to the rise of the Khmer Rouge" thing but I suppose causal responsibility for one of the worst genocide campaigns in human history is more of a blemish against him as a person than as a leader.

My history teacher in high school was amazing, he actually made it interesting. He had a lot of authentic Nazi memorabilia he brought while we were learning about WW2, a civil war uniform he wore in, and once a full authentic KKK robe and hood. I remember watching him walk down the halls wearing it that day, we were all cracking up.

He used to be great to watch on Carson, he made appearances often. That's been over 30 years ago.

Holy shit Mr. Belvedere ran for six seasons and it was based on a book from the 1940s and that book even had a film adaptation also in the 1940s.

From the first article I saw.

Uecker finished as only a .200 hitter but could lay claim to having homered off three eventual Hall of Fame pitchers in Sandy Koufax, Ferguson Jenkins and Gaylord Perry.
