oh, you're not joking?

anyone complaining about the lower levels is crazy. You can blow through them in less than a day. The combat alone is enough to keep you playing until the late teens, then the story picks up and the zones get more interesting. I do agree that these games should just start at max level, though.
Flawed logic 101. Fuck new players, because... fuck them.

Don't bother trying to play the game on a laptop if you're traveling for work, NC Soft blocks hotel IPs or dynamic IPs or whatever they're blocking. Can't log into the game due to "Invalid Login Token" which is fucking AWESOME if you ask me. Can't wait to be stuck in this shit hole for a week with nothing to do (as I reformatted).

I guess I should be more clear about the story/task issue. i like that I can blow off the tasks because even though everything is go here do this kill that regardless of what kind of quest you're doing, the tasks feel MORE like collect ten bear asses.

Have you tried logging in to your account on the NCSoft website? If you log in from a different IP address than normal, it should prompt you to verify the new IP address. That should (theoretically) let you log in to the game from the hotel.

Yep, no dice. Good thought though.

EDIT - It would appear that this Kimpton's IP address changes ever 5 minutes. There-in could lie the problem. FANNNNtastic.

It was my one brilliant idea for the day ... sorry it didn't work.

You have space hamsters, giant robots, zombies, golems, anime rejects, dragon lizards, and everyone looks the same?
Fairly certain the 'looks the same' comment was made about the "non unique" outposts.

Also - and it took me a while to realize this - but there aren't stat sacrifices at lower levels. It's just that whatever gear you are looking at compares to what you are wearing, so any stat that you'd be decreasing shows red on the new gear. So if you're wearing a shirt with +5 moxie and find one that has +5 finesse, the new shirt will show as +5 finesse, -5 moxie.

Exile side, the zone 15-23 is Galeras and while it starts out interestingly with a couple missions sabotaging dominion forces etc. after a bit it gets extremely dull with just a few interesting quests here and there. Whitevale is miles ahead in quality.
Class wise I think the esper is the best healer for me, as I don't like the spellsurge mechanic too much and medics are kinda meh for some unexplainable reason, also mobility is absolutely a non-issue as the only stationary heal is situational and I never had a problem casting it whenever I needed it. Dealing damage with an esper is a bit slower and bursty, well timed blades and birds can strip 80% of a mob's life in a pinch, but there is some build up time.

Finished Stormtalon veteran tonight.

Easily one of the most fun dungeons I've played since original DSM in Rift. Requires high coordination among your entire group but never feels overly long. There are several annoying bugs that occur but it was extremely rewarding/satisfying to complete.

They absolutely need to fix the lower level game. The last two zones I have quested through I have paid attention only to the Region Story and World Story quests, and it has made a world of difference. You can skip ALL the tasks and still level through a zone at the appropriate speed and be ready for the next by the time you complete the region and world quests. That isn't clear at all at low levels, in fact when I was low level I didn't even know there was a difference. Tasks give like 2 kills worth of xp and the story quests give almost a bar per, I'm fairly certain you level slower if you pay attention to the tasks.
This was the case through most of the game, but beware of doing this in the last 2-3 zones. I got into the final zone at 46.3, did every quest in there and dinged 50 on the very last quest. Few guys were complaining about running out of quests. Large parts of the final quests chains start at 48, so don't be getting into the final zone before 46.

I am very curious how much of the playerbase make it through sanctuary on silver level (75 mins). That stuff is (imho) not puggable. You need to set up interrupt/dodge chains and I can not see this happen via chat.

That sucks when you're on a guest account trying to decide if you want to buy the game or not. I understand people saying it's gets better post 20, but if it doesn't grab me during the 'trial' (since I assume that's the whole point of the guest accounts, to get people interested and buy), then I probably wont get it, at least not until heavily discounted or F2P.
If you make it to level 20, run the adventure, both battlegrounds and both dungeons, do housing, do crafting and can't decide if you like the game, you probably shouldn't buy it, it's not for you.

I've messed around with crafting some already, it's ok but I'm not usually into crafting in any game so it's not going to matter here either. How do you access the housing? I hit lvl 14 and it said that unlocked housing but what do you do from that point? I think the worst part of the early Dominion experience is going through Barrens 2.0 for what seems like forever. I think my other problem is I'm playing but not really sure what I'm doing as far as rotations or anything like that (playing warrior), I'm just hitting buttons and standing out of the red.

go to the main city, you should get a quest to find the housing rep. This finishes with a TP to your house, and gives you a skill to port to it at any time.

Things to consider. Housing is a HUGE money sink.
Early, you probably have some fabkits and deco drops. the deco drops ought to give you rested exp. and you can buy some more cheap ones from the housing vendor. (in the new UI menu that opens when you are in your house plot)
But, housing does cost ALOT. so you won't be able to really get a full grasp of it early. Go visit some other players houses. That's in the social menu.

Others have noted some of the problems. game isn't perfect. Too many quests is a major one. As was noted a few posts back. if you ignore "tasks" and challenges" and only do STORY quests, the game is about a million times more interesting. The massive quest bloat from challenges, tasks, crafting, and PATH quests, really takes away from any storytelling/pacing. Its nearly impossible to follow wtf is going on when you are just drowning in random tasks. Especially kill x tasks and challenges. Challenges are NEAT. but really REALLY distracting when you are trying to stay on task.

Can you even imagine? like back in Wow. doing those Eastern plaguelands quests, either Fordring, or the ghost girl. walking up to either and suddenly, "CHALLENGE! Kill 30 GHOSTS/ZOMBIES in 2 minutes!"
It would just destroy any sense of immersion, emotion, and pacing.

Challenges should be set up as veteran content.

Like, they only appear AFTER you outlevel the area. They level you down to the area, and then present the challenge to you.
Either by level, or AFTER you complete the areas story quests.

If you're playing this dumb game for immersion then I don't know what to say. Wildstar took everything that was wrong with MMO's and upped it to the nth degree, there's no way it's going to keep people hooked for more than 3-4 months like every other WoW clone.

Agree 100% on challenges. You're in the middle of the quest and then 'CHALLENGE STARTED' with a timer and your instinct is to just try to complete the challenge and ignore whatever you were doing. Wish I knew about only doing Story quests about 5 days ago though.

Yeah, I grab tasks and challenges and if I complete them, fine, I grab my reward but if I don't I just stay on target on regional and zone quests and drop the others I have passed by.

This game is what it is, there isn't a ton of innovation. Either you will enjoy it or you won't. If you do all the things and they aren't fun, pass on it and move on. If you enjoy like I have and many others have, more the power to ya and keep on trucking
