Oh wtf , was going nuts trying to find this and then i did find it and it was a 35 minute gameplay video that was released last year that had this whole quest line played out. Fucking memory is getting terrible.
Oh it keeps going once you finish the main part of the quest so there is more after that.

Conclusion below:
If you free the demon horse under the tree, the baron's wife becomes a cursed hag and then dies and then he hangs himself cause he has no one left. Else if you kill the horse they all live (kids die) but the barons wife becomes senile and the baron takes off to help cure her.

All you see is notice boards and points of interest the moment you step foot in Velen. I ran around for about an hour collecting quests and most of them are way too high for me. I don't even know where to begin.

Do the story, look for !'s as you ride around. If you pass a ?, hit F5 (some of them are stupid and have shit like L7 bandits combined with L16 deserters) and give it a shot because at the very least you will get a recipe from it. Don't worry about completing something when you're low level and getting loot that's scaled down. First off, I don't think that even really exists, in spite of the big deal that was made about it a month before release. Second, past level 8 the only gear in the game worth using is Witcher gear, and that's all crafted/upgraded.

Some insane rambling of me playing this quest elsewhere , disregard.=(

Hah, I was wondering what the hell you were talking about there. I was starting to think it was my memory that was going, and I just replayed most of TW2 last week. :p

As some one else mentioned before, picked up an enhanced recipe and not ever making or seeing the base one doesn't let you make it

This just happened to me with a the dragon puff bomb...

Asking the same question I asked that time too: are you sure you have the plain recipe?

Nah, I have both base and enhanced in my list for some that I haven't crafted yet, others I have just enhanced because I haven't found base. I know where I can buy the missing ones, but I'm pretty sure they can all be looted at ?'s so I haven't felt like spending the money.

If you've made the base and have the enhanced in your list, then yeah, the base one will disappear.

Ok so if you have never made the base recipe and then got the enhanced you are shit out of luck no?
No. Can confirm this is not the case. I just looked myself, I had the enhanced dragon dream bomb recipe. Did not have the base recipe. I just got the base recipe from doing a ?. Both the base and enhanced version showed up on my alchemy list. Then once I crafted the base recipe, it disappeared like Vorph said, leaving only the enhanced.

The more I learn of the world the more I don't understand how anyone survives which so many things ready to kill you the moment you step outside.

Also my 670 2GB isn't cutting it anymore despite my 16GB of RAM still need to turn down most things to medium and high to play at 1920/1080 smoothly and can barely run it at 5760x1080 with everything turned down, thinking 970 4GB....

Really? Aside from a couple of exceptions I can go just about anywhere in the world and count the enemies I see on one hand usually. They are almost all located at ? As well and generally are in packs of 4 or 5. Some pirate or bandit camps occasionally have more which is refreshing when it happens because it makes the world feel much more alive with danger.

You should want to use the paths and roads in game for more than the stamina regen. The area off the road isn't dangerous at all.

I don't think he means you the player.
He means immersion wise.

15 Wolves and wargs running around the fields and forests East of the starting village.
8 Drowners Along the river. 4 of them 10ft from the Burned down village you run through starting the game.
Ghouls maybe we can explain with the war/dead bodies.

Anyway, thought I would comment. Only played a short bit, but noticed this.
A few people have commented on the ! and ? markers. While MOST by far, MOST things are marked. Not everything is.
The starting town again, has some chests out in the river. you can see them with "witcher vision" but they are not marked with ?. I got recipes out of them. Found some chests along the shore towards that burned down one I mentioned too.
Along the same idea, theres a note in that first village saying the local herbalist(who I haven't actually found yet..) is paying well for honeycombs. Well, Bee hives are not marked on the map. Neither ? or even with the plant icons, like plants. you have to watch trees. Igni burns them, killing the horents, so you can loot them, not sure if TK works too.

So is the game worth getting? Did it live up to the hype?

I have like 30 notes, letters, and books in my inventory that I want to get rid of but don't want to throw away any active quest shit that will come back to bite me in the ass. Any suggestions or am I missing a mechanic that shows you which ones are active?

I am like the least OCD person on the planet in RL but every now and then a cluttered inventory in a video game will bring it out. Also it's driving me insane that I don't know what to sell, disassemble, and save. Fucking RPGs.
