Just beat this game, 9.5/10 - pretty fuckin awesome, and the ending was pretty boss - I am curious to see how the later paid content adds on to shit since i

Rode off into the sunset with Triss, Ciri is a witcher and apparently badass

This is awesome! thank you. + reps to you for this

few questions, in the game it looks like it's a 360 controller, like A or B buttons etc, is there a way to make it have PS4 controller buttons etc?
Also when using your xml, sometimes the swipes work and sometimes the swipes are acting like fast mouse moves, like spinning the camera etc, is there some lock somewhere that locks the swipe pad on?
No mod for swapping to Sony button prompts yet, still hoping someone will make one soon since people have been unpacking the game's archives for almost a week now. ABXY is pretty easy to remember anyway.

Apparently not everything I have changed in my profile is exported into the xml. This is what it should look like to get rid of the mouse movement:

It's probably just "Use Touchpad Swipes for controls" that needs to be checked, but I can't remember what all I changed so the pic should help.

Pretty sure it will happen prior to the ending like most other DLC is these days.

Not that I know of, it gets dismissed as "they were just used as tools"
Yeah was hoping there would be more as that aspect seemed very interesting. I found it kind of funny how they were all "omg berserkers? they are legends!" and then it's never mentioned or looked into again. Here's hoping for some more DLC. Loved Skellige the most.

I'm having a bit of trouble getting into this game, not sure why. It seems like it would have everything I would want in an RPG and I can't point to anything that I am disliking.

If I only do story quests, will I underlevel the content? Maybe advancing the plot will get me back into it.

Edit: If you want my TW3 profile:Attachment 98606
Map = Swipe up
Inventory = Swipe down
Left press = Igni
Right press = Quen
Upper press = Yrden
L+R multi-press = Quicksave

Just unzip and import the XML.

Also, if you edit \The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\config\base\hidden.ini and change LockControlScheme to 2 it will get rid of that stupid and annoying message in the bottom left that reminds you that you are, in fact, using a gamepad to play the game.

So does it in fact lower the difficulty setting?

Can you re-export and upload, there are some options that are different on the one you uploaded..like D3 scan code etc, not sure what these are but they are not matching your screenshot. Thanks

Steam Question: On the PS4 version of the game, there is a pamphlet that says all DLC is free, yet on steam there are options for different versions of the game for example "Buy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game + Expansion Pass" not sure if DLC is free for PC users or not, it's confusing.

Can ignore that part, it's an old screenshot. "D3 Scan Code" is Aard, but I switched that to Yrden a while back. Also recently added the keybind for Quicksave to Multitouch.

16 small DLCs are free, 2 per week for 8 weeks after release. Some cosmetic stuff like alternate looks, a single quest here and there, etc. The pass is for two 10-20 hour large expansions. They're due in Oct and early 2016.

Edit: updated the screenshot

yup, no matter what i do, swipe bar always is mouselook, read faq's created new profiles, nothing i can find prevents this from being mouse look. It's not game breaking, but it's annoying.

Edit: Aaaand i'm a dumbass, at least i can call myself out on it hahah, turns out double clicking a profile does not actually load that specific profile, it just shows it to you to modify it, you have to actually select the profile you want to use on the first tab. Yup, i fail, and to think, i use to make video games at one point in my life... sucks getting old

Not really, there's one point in the story quests that warns you to be a certain level before going further. Actually, your level in the later parts of the game is determined in how far you have progressed in the story, getting to 30+ otherwise would require ungodly amount of grinding.

Question about the game.

So I"m still in Velen doing random quests. I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty and overall having a great time. Will I "outlevel' Skellige if I keep doing side quests in Velen? It's sad because I've had the "get a boat to go to skellige quest" for such a long time now but I keep getting distracted by random Velen quests. Problem is I don't want to sit in Velen for too long, then go to Skellige and have everything Green con (like 3+ lvls below me) and make every fight super ezpz.

Just like in Velen and Novigrad, there will be some stuff you out-level, and some stuff that is much higher level than you. I waited until late into level 17 to go to Skelege (finished all level appropriate secondary quests and contracts on the main land) and finished the Act 1 quests (read: main story) right at level 20. There are a couple quests in my log that say 34, but most are between 14 and 30. If you're still worried about it, remember that anything 6 levels or lower won't give quest exp. That being said, the secondaries and contracts are usually pretty insignificant as far as experience goes. The occasional few are in the multi-hundreds, but I've gotten mostly 50xp for short quests and 10-25 for single-step quests.

tl;dr: don't sweat what level you are. Don't do red/skull quests and try not to out level whatever quests are in your log.

This is what I am doing. Doing quests based on their level, no matter what they are, and always picking up new ones. I rarely outlevel sidequests since they yield so little experience compared to the main quest line. I think the biggest chance of outleveling content comes when you rush the main quest line. Probably due to it keeping you level appropriate, allowing you to progress. In pure exp you can probably do around 10+ sidequests for every 1 completed main story.

I try to finish any and all side quests, contracts and hunts that are equal or lower than the main story missions before I progress.

That said.... the choices in this game... So many times now I have tried to save before a choice, do it a few times to see the dialog outcome, then what seems to be the good/best outcome turns to total shit 10 hours later.

I've clocked nearly 60 hours in the game, and am sitting at 37% with the Velen and Novigrad main quests complete. I haven't touched the Island yet. But I think I've seen enough to comment on the game as a whole. Despite my earlier complaints about the UI and some of the controls (which still annoy me) I do thoroughly enjoy it.

I have to give major props to CDPR, the story is probably one of the most compelling I've ever experienced in a video game. I am a fervent "games are not movies" purist, I often deride the "story" in games like Mass Effect because I don't think cramming a movie into your video game is not how you are supposed to tell stories in the medium. On the surface this is what the Witcher 3 is, but it is done so masterfully I can't help but be sucked in.

I am not exactly sure what it is, but I think a major part of the reason it works is the ambiguity of the world, the characters, and the decisions you make. You don't really know what is going to happen; everyone has an agenda, everyone is trying to use Geralt, and everyone lies constantly. You get some truths, some half-truths, and some outright lies, without always being able to tell which is which. You get thrust into conflicts between evils and you really aren't sure who is the lesser one you should side with. And often you are put in situations where no outcome is better than the other, they both just really suck. This texture paints the world in such a way that your disbelief is utterly suspended allowing for a high level of emotional engagement.

The Witcher shows the benefit of not having an "alignment points" system that many RPGs contain (which I generally dislike as well). It allows you to make choices based on the context of the situation and the personality of your "Geralt" without affecting parts of the game that aren't your story (no spamming "paragon" because that is your build).

They also have some extremely talented voice actors. Whomever did the Baron (Edit:James Clyde) is an absolute star, that is some of the best acting I've ever seen just about anywhere. That guy should get an award for his portrayal of such a complex and conflicted character.

As an aside, Ciri is fucking awesome. I really wish I could play the game as her instead (as long as they fixed her run/walk animation). Maybe she will become a playable character in the expansions?

Fuck I'm level 18 nearly 19 and I haven't left Novigrad yet. But there's still so much to do and I don't want to miss it. I've got a few grey quests I out leveled from velen and it cuts me because I feel like I've missed out.

I absolutely love how all quests are tied together in one grand kind of scheme. It's not like most games where side quests are just random isolated incidents. The side quests contribute to the story of Novigrad as a whole. Truly awesome.

How far into the main story is Novigrad just about to goto the Isles?

Seconding that the Bloody Baron is anamazingcharacter. When
he kills himself after he loses his wife to monsterness and his daughter to witch hunters
. I was genuinely upset. I cannot remember the last time I cared about a character so much in a video game. Skipped Novigrad and have started putzing around in Skellige at 16, all Velen PoIs cleared or discovered and all quests picked up. Game is incredible.

I think you got the "worst" possible outcome to the Baron story line. Not sure how many outcomes there are, but I believe there are 3 or 4 depending on your choices. I think I got the second worst. Certainly did not make it better in the surrounding area.
