Are we going to have wait another 15 years for Classic without sharding and 1.12 garbage in it?

Azuregos just wouldn't be the same unless you can watch 100+ death shouts over 40 minutes of inevitable failure and then you can roll in after with 15 and mop it up with a decent gold split.

I'm betting they won't shard areas with world bosses. That would completely negate the point of them being a once a week per server spawn. Intro areas only to balance the initial load.

Speaking of, that's one thing that's been severely lacking - the massive part of MMO. Having almost 100 people swarming back and forth between Tauren Mill and South Shore. You only get a microcosm of that with current world bosses and it's only the 40 who queued for that particular kill, and with the separation of Warmode you only see half of them, even if you're attacking the same boss - which is also strange.

The more I read threads like this the more hyped I get for classic. I cannot wait for the salty tears. Not from the people who never played classic and are gonna cry about how "hard" it is compared to modern WoW. But from the people who think they are gonna rule the roost at 35 years old because they are old school and know what it's like when there are professional gamers who can out-poopsock you while getting paid to do it and ruin all your "immersion" by showing you how easy the game really is. It just takes time. And now these kids have all the time in the world.

Who has been posting that? Most of us are working proffessionals and other than a couple days of poop sock a year cannot be hardcore.

You're right, I was a little disingenuous with that post. I didn't mean to make it sound like the people here are acting like that. What I meant to say was all the videos and stories and everyone re-telling their experiences here reminds me of how time consuming the game was, but how it wasn't very demanding outside of that one criteria. But I hear a lot of hemming and hawing elsewhere about how it would be a wake up call for players who have never experienced "the true grind". So to clarify, I wasn't trying to call out FoH. I was just making a general observation.

The modern era of Twitch and Method are certain to influence the experience of things, but that's going to be a double edged sword... Both in how utterly easy things are, and in the time investment necessary. That is, until Nax. That shit was still hard. I'm very curious to see how well 40 man requirements are going to play out in a modern environment. Also the fights over world bosses are likely to be even more extreme, assuming it has the popularity I'm expecting it to have. The length of time it is going to take to get folks attuned or keyed will be a hard stop gap that is likely to take longer than the hype may last. I could be wrong. I could be wrong, it will depend a lot in how BfA develops as a lot of wow fanbois, myself included, just don't feel like playing, but would run BRD and LBRS in its original version because they were dungeon crawling perfection.

How can we predict modern hardcore asshole burn out rate, to those who just play mindlessly forever because of its addictive nature...

I predict the reimmergence of monster guilds just to have enough people to fill out a raid. How loot is handled is going to be very much the same, but also skewered. Being able to trade a piece of gear even after it has been assigned to you via master loot is going to cause issues. Calling that now.

Too many people who play this are gonna know all the tricks. Everyone is gonna know how to do 15 minute emp runs in brd or ezmode farming in DM thanks to 10 years of exploiting the hell out of emu servers.

Ultimately that's not going to do anything gnother than ensure a shorter clear of raids, but the limited gear drops for the 40 fucks is going to remain the same. It took on average several months for anyone to get a complete tier 2 unless they were funneled gear (which was usually the tanks).

Most bosses in vanilla didn't have enrage timers, so you could do the Method thing and let your raid level lots of alts/twinks and do split raids. Takes a lot of dedication though, so I don't really know if vanilla is really worth it.

With DM gear and 1.12 item revamps and talent trees, people will 20 man Ony during the second week after this launches. Rag will probably take a bit longer but not by much.

Also Ion specifically said he knows sharding zones with bosses or high level resources (he used Thorium veins as an example) would be a huge mistake. He said it was in the demo just to give the hundreds of people spawning at the same exact location a smoother experience, and that they are looking at possibly doing it for the starting zones when the game actually launches until all the tourists get bored and the bubble of players spread out a bit. Lots of people think Blizz can’t be trusted and will go full sharding on one mega server or some shit but that really seems unlikely.

I give sharding a hesitant pass if it's only the 1-10 zones.

If sharding goes into the entire game then fuck that shit.

Sharding or not, it is definitely stupid to have the game spawn 200 Rich Thorium Veins per hour and expect that to be balanced for both a 500 and a 10.000 player server.

That is to say no more "we know better" head up their ass BS.

Was that how it worked though? I thought it was something like 4-5 Rich thorium veins could be up in any one zone at any one time so the more people mining the more would spawn because they would be getting mined. Black Lotus was like 1 or 2 per continent up at any time? If one got picked it would spawn somewhere else on that continent. This is just from memory from 13+ years ago though so I don't actually know.
