Was that how it worked though? I thought it was something like 4-5 Rich thorium veins could be up in any one zone at any one time so the more people mining the more would spawn because they would be getting mined.
No one really knows exactly except Blizzard, but some of the observed behaviour was like this:
- number of "rares" actively spawned is limited per zone or subzone (like Darkwhisper Gorge in Winterspring had its own limit of rich Thorium veins)
- nodes do not get actively upgraded after a while, a rare ressource has to spawn from a harvested node
- there seems to be no internal cooldown per rare ressource
- howver, there seemed to be a safety net to limit the total influx of rares per hour (something like a hardcap or "good luck protection" if you will)

I have a question about that last screenshot.

Shouldn't you guys be mounted up?

Black Lotus was like 1 or 2 per continent up at any time? If one got picked it would spawn somewhere else on that continent. This is just from memory from 13+ years ago though so I don't actually know.
Each continent spawned BL independent of the other, and they had a respawn of several hours. But all the BL spawns on a continent were linked, so you couldn’t ever snipe like 3 doing a circuit of silithus or whatever. Nost/Ely and other private servers have had to change this to have dynamic respawns and I believe some have even implemented flask vendors just because of how crazy the spawnrates were when you have a couple dozen guilds trying to raid AQ/Naxx.

My pop culture reference was clearly lost on you!

I got it.

And the nostalgia generated from this thread also got me on the webarchive shots of the TR site over the weekend. I also levelled a NE Druid on US Laughing Skull to 16 lol.

Biggest WTF change is the people riding motorbikes that looked like this

This would be even better if they went through and changed around some of the mechanics of the fights, or at least made them harder. As said before, people know all the tricks. Content is going to get blown through. Then again, same with progression EQ, and there is something to be said about just maxing the shit out of a character(s) in the old world.

People are going to chain wipe in dungeons having to CC.

This was before Blizzard gave up on their mostly retarded modern playerbase.

It drives me crazy to be in a dungeon where I could take advantage of Shackle Undead and no one will let me even in a goddamn Mythic+. I hate that it's just the standard to tank whatever the pack is in its entirety.

Yeah, I hate that CC is irrelevant in the game anymore. Blizzard has the game tuned that way also. Most people spec to have their abilities cleave.

CC is not irrelevant in M+. I don't know who you guys are running with but no... you CC plenty in higher M+.

I try and use it and the tanks just don't cooperate. I'm sure that actual coordinated players try and take advantage of all of their abilities but pugging it has just never worked out for me.

It makes me genuinely angry to be somewhere like Atal'Dazer and being forced to fucking ride my keyboard during the pull before Vol'Kaal with those fucking vomit zombies and not being allowed to just shackle one because the game up until that point hasn't taught players good lessons. King's Rest is full of undead, seems like a natural place to take advantage of being a Priest, and tanks will break CC no matter the situation. These are like +7s and +8s? Nothing to write home about but still far enough along that I have some expectations.

As a tank or hunter I would CC those packs as a +3 or +4 because it's just so much faster.

Dude I'm 100% with you.

I played undead priest on Night Haven emu and had this exact experience. These people are completely lost of any common sense, worse because you tell them and they still break it. SFK was a nightmare on that emu with random tards. Vanilla emu will be no better. People are going to get wrecked by this content by comparison not to mention lack of raid/dungeon finder.

Speaking of raids, you're basically running MC the entire time thru aq40 to deal with turn over and shit.

Also, them 8 piece bonuses and shit. 40 people take a long as time to gear up when you're getting 2-3 items per boss, and a lot of time that third item ends up going to waste because everyone already has their fuckin boots or that weapon that drops off four or five of the bosses.

It wouldn't surprise me if guilds start 20-25 manning it. So much of the 40 man raid rosters were straight up hard carries. I distinctly remember like half of my raid squad being clickers who didn't bind any of their abilities.
