I'm not subscribed atm, but I wanted to see the 5.3 time-limited stuff before it poofed.

1) How long does the only-during 5.3 stuff (a one time quest line in orgrimmar and daily stuff in barrens I will do once, apparently) take?

2) Any rough estimate on when 5.4 is coming out (and thus when I have to have the above done by)?

Well, there is the intro quest and the weekly quest, but beyond that it is really player motivated in terms of how long it takes to get what. The rewards either cost a mojo (weekly reward) or cost raw materials. On average, a NPC will drop maybe 1-3 of a resource. Crates will typically have around that as well. Completing an escort or killing a rare will typically give 30ish of a certain resource and 10 or less of others.

Doing the intro quest + completing the weekly gets you the achievement and title. After that, it's up to you. The latent krokon gear is pretty worthless except as transmog (it's basically the vanilla dungeon "tier" sets in appearance), but it costs a mojo + armor drop as a pre-req. Mojo from the weekly will get you a pet hydra or unlock a secret brawl pub fight (it's basically Mike Tyson's Punch Out and pretty fun). The other stuff is just transmog or social clicky items, like drums you can play, and they cost just raw resources (usually a lot).

As for when 5.4 hits, I'm guessing August at the earliest. When MMO-Champ starts to report patch notes/PTR updates as potential release canidates, that means live patch is pretty close.

I also found it odd he mentioned being at the Blizzcon with the vanilla dungeon revamps which was I think the one with the cata announcement. After claiming he railed on the design back in vanilla wow, why the fuck would you be at any Blizzcon period much less the one hot on the heels of the xpac the filthy casuals took over??

I bet he has all the collectors editions.

Because otherwise, this is a person who hates the shit out of every game in the last decade yet still plays them. That is a recipe for towers and Texas.

Any paladins tanked some challenge modes? Can it be done in ret gear with some tanking trinkets?

Also lf any CM silver/gold runs if anyone has a spot for them. I play ret and can play supportish dps if needed.

Also Dumar is a crazy person.

not really that close, they just started raid testing on some normal mode encounters which will take a couple of weeks, then testing heroic modes (except for end bosses) and then they still have to test the whole flex raid stuff

get hit cap, expertise cap and the rest in haste with any off pieces being in mastery. If you have crit, it's wasted. It's fairly easy as prot paladin as you have a lot of cooldowns to keep you up. Seeing as we tank with 'ret' gear now, I think you'll be cool. Just make sure there's no strictly offensive stats (well I guess that's only crit) and reforge accordingly. gl

Out of curiosity, since I hate work firewalls, which mobs drop the starter for the green fire quest warlock stuff? Those things are the reasons why I usually play wow every now and then, I'd hate to miss an interesting one.

Did some instances with my 81->82 lock yesterday.. felt so weird. Got the hang of it after a few minutes but I was still pretty low DPS (affliction). Anyone have a good spec/rotation/glyph guide? Is icy-veins still the best place?

Any of the rares on Isle of Thunder can drop the book. It's also tradable, so you can buy one off AH if you want.

Affliction is going to be terrible in leveling dungeons, with maybe the exception of bosses orhugepulls where you can SoC spam. Affliction really only shines on long fights. I would go Destruction for dungeon spamming or Demonology for questing, honestly. As for guides, if you can wade through the crap, ElitistJerks is still decent at times, as are, shockingly enough the MMOChampion class forums. If you want just the cut and dry, Icy-veins is not bad, but the topic threads are where you want to go if you want in detail information on how to play a specific spec.

I wanted to try destro out, but at 502 ilevel I'm not wearing a single piece of gear that has crit on it (probably not a huge concern for a leveling lock).

It's very possible, they neutered the conversion rates for crit rating. Unless you're a class with innate crit passives, your crit is anemic. My assassination rogue is at 18.5% or something stupid, when in Cata he was ~27% in similar gear.
