Yeah, because XP pots and Lesser charms is where they'll stop. Don't get your vaginas sandy guys, jesus!

You apologists are ridiculous. Any passionate gamer on these boards should be (and should have been for years now) looking at each and every decision Acti-Blizzard makes with more and more disdain and lament.

Well I'll ignore how retarded your argument is and instead just say that outside a handful of hardcore turds, nobody on these boards has been passionate about WoW in years, so why should we care if they're finally starting down the slippery slope of p2w micro-trans?

Been playing destro lock after the suggestions here. Much better, especially in pvp. I wasn't sure I could handle spamming 3 buttons the whole time, but it works. I can see myself getting tired of this game again real soon though, all the same.

So all you hopeless idealists raging about how WoW is ruining the MMO industry, you still hoping for Elder Scrolls to save it? 50 failed MMO disasters since WoW came out and it's still Blizzard's fault apparently.

I'm surprised no one has pointed outwhythis is coming in now. The timing is important. All of this is being announced in the aftermath of Titan officially getting scrapped and remade. I think it's reasonable to conclude that Blizzard executives lost a lot of their leverage with the Kotick-types in Activision once they officially changed Titan's status. So now people like Kotick are looking for ways to extract more money out of WoW, and the old guard at Blizzard can't really say shit because of what happened with Titan.

Titan dying is what paved the way for this. It's not going away, and it's going to get a lot worse. It'd take a mass community revolt with 100k+ cancelled subscriptions citing P2W to even have a shot at preventing this from happening now.

Or it's because most of the lost subs have been from China so they're opening a cash shop in China.

I'm a HUGE WoW apologist and I was willing to buy that for the xp stuff but the blue post all but says "it's coming to the US/EU."

Honestly it all depends on the price.

I despise daily quests and dread having to farm up even 50 of those stupid charms. Rare hunting is fine and all but some weeks I don't want to spend the time doing what I feel like is a job in WoW. I want to log on to raid in WoW...that is it. I'll toss a few bucks for a bucket of lesser charms to cut that stupid task out completely.

Sorry, but this logic is stupid. You do realize that they're addressing a problem (excessive grinding) that they created themselves right? If the store is even moderately successful, future game design is going to introduce more problems. Problems that you can conveniently solve with a quick trip to the cash store. The end result is that the game company has a strong incentive to continue making in-game roadblocks that have easy pay store shortcuts. They're not doing you a favor by giving you the ability to pay to bypass, because they're creating the thing you need to bypass in the first place.

Re: Lesser Charms on the cash shop

My biggest problem with this is that as it stands currently, lesser charms are very easy to get (200-300/hr in a raid group in north barrens). Once lesser charms become available on the cash shop places like this will be nerfed to oblivion.Thatis what bothers me. If you have a cash shop itwilleffect your game design decisions.

I don't see how farming them is a chore. I have a surplus of those things. They drop off literally EVERYTHING you kill. I have enough to get my runes weekly for the next 3 months at least if I never got 1 more. Am I missing something?

The problem with the charms is it's a very slippery slope.

"I don't want to farm these items that increase my drops.. I'll just buy them"

"I missed my raid this week.. I'll just buy those shoulders"

"Man I really don't want to grind.. I'll just buy level 95"

Yeah, the fact that Blizz knows its customers would pay any amount of money to stand in org or the shrine in purples for no effort. This is just step one. I've never seen a playerbase so enamored with coating themselves in purple just so they can log off. Seriously, we had a guy that I knew felt flaky in ICC toward the end but we had already given him most of the shit for shadowmourne. As soon as he gets it, he retires until cata. I'd want to play with my toys instead of putting them away. This entire playerbase is salivating for p2w
