cash shops confirmed for asia:

Thanks for all the feedback so far, everyone. We're still pretty early in the exploration process, but we did want to go into more detail about our rationale for introducing an in-game store, as well as provide some insight into what you might ultimately see available there.

For players who are already interested in the in-game items we offer, such as Pet Store pets and mounts, the benefits of an in-game store are pretty clear. We think everyone would appreciate the convenience of being able to make such purchases without having to leave the game, and ultimately that's our long-term goal for the system, though there's quite a bit of work involved in retrofitting those existing items into the new system.

First, we'll be testing the in-game store with some new kinds of items we're looking into introducing (in Asian regions, at the outset) based on player feedback: specifically, an experience buff to assist with the leveling process, as well as an alternate way to acquire Lesser Charms of Good Fortune. We've had a lot of requests from players in different regions for convenience-oriented items such as these, and as with other new ideas we've introduced as WoW has evolved-including Pet Store pets, mounts, and more-your feedback plays a hugely important part in determining what we add to the game.

Ultimately it's still too early in the process to make any final determinations about our plans, but in the meantime, we hope you'll check out the in-game store once it's implemented on the PTR and let us know what you think.

Asians want to be able to level their fresh accounts more quickly after their previous shit got banned for bot-farming or whatever?

At the outset, haha. These jokers have full plans in place to add anything and everything to the NA and EU regions. Pay to win is coming, all hail!

Ya, IDC about an XP pot. But lesser charms? No (at least in NA/EU). That is a little too slippery slope for my tastes. They can do whatever the fuck they want in China/Asia, but I'd prefer they don't start heading down that road in NA/EU.

They will, that would make them so much money you know Blizzard can't resist it. We knew this would come one day.

I know you're right but I hope to fucking god there's a huge outcry. Oh well, unlike some around here, I'm pretty good about voting with my wallet. I'm sure my sub will be offset by all the terrible players who just want purple letters. I know you can roll in normal, can you roll in heroic?

Oh well, fuck 'em. I have finally realized lately that this game isn't for me unless I'm in a heroic level raiding guild.

I can definitely see it happening. That's a problem with public companies, the shareholders are always expecting end over end profits, and with dwindling subs and a doubtful future for Titan, they will be looking for a new way of monetizing WoW, and I think it's fair to say that they will never do anything to bring old players back, even if they still could after turning the game into a casual furfest

Not that i play anymore but for those who still are... does it really matter especially considering where WoW's at in its life cycle? Why would anyone be pissed at an xp buff in game where lvl cap means squat since post vanilla. Buff or not, its a breeze. I remember my bro capping in tbc after a week of play.

I think a cash shop is the least of WoW problems at this point.

The xp buff isn't the point of contention now. It's the charms which add up to runes which give extra rolls on gear in raids. It's a slippery p2w concept.

I've had a few of our old guard who have expressed interest in the rumored and in-game hinted "TBC 2" xpac. I do think they would probably be disappointed, but I know of a few that would log in for that.

Ya, XP pots doesn't mean much. The lesser charms can be used to buy runes that let you get bonus chances at raid loot. While lesser charms aren't super hard to farm, it's a little too close to P2W.

Pay to Win is acquiring items that you cannot acquire without paying cash for them. Getting Lesser charms is the biggest joke in the game and before I stopped playing until 5.4 I had several thousand of them. Considering it took 50 charms to get the 3 Greaters a week I was set on lesser charms until at least 2015. The Greater Charms are limited to once a week turn in anyways, so if you meant buy Greater Charms then yes I would agree with you, but that isn't what is being discussed.

You can roll more often, get faster items, so you can stop playing earlier? Sometimes my head hurts when I think about all the wrong things done by developers.

I wish wow would just bite the bullet and go f2p and then go all out p2w up the ass, like let you buy a full decked out level 90 for $50 or any mount you want for $20 or fuck it just bring in a cash shop for legendary items. I don't want to pay a monthly sub to play maybe 3 hours a month, but I do want to play once in a while just to fuck around with old nostalgic shit.

It won't happen for years though, they simply have too many people who pay their monthly sub and never/barely login to lose all that revenue, so they will keep putting in bullshit "but this isn't REALLY p2w..." stuff like xp pots, armor dyes (its coming, I'm sure) cash shop items.

Its almost like people cannot even read anymore =(
I read just fine. So what happens on day 1 of The Burning Returns and you can buy Lesser Void Pendants for those first tier of raids rather than just farming 50 or 100 dailies? Every hardcore guild and Eugene the Pwner will be paying to outstrip the rest.

But in reality, pve is a fucking joke unless you can clear heroic raids, so why do I even care. Until they sell conquest point packs....

Keep in mind that in Asia the raids are on a 3 day lockout vs the 7 days on NA/EU realms and 25m raids dropping higher item level loot. They also get less revenue from subs in Asia than NA/EU and p2w is a pretty big deal there so we'll see.

Because its a once a week turn in and less you are brain dead and can hardly function you will always have enough to turn it in once a week.
