let me know when they admit they fucked up with the scaling. Ty

They did talk about scaling atleast

Mob Scaling
  • Outdoor world scaling has not changed since 7.2. Blizzard has not changed anything. Argus had the same system.
  • Outdoor world mob scaling is done because the world remains relevant and rewards increase as your item level progresses, so the world should keep pace with you but at a slower pace.
  • Before world scaling, players would become so strong that it would disrupt the outdoor world experience by killing mobs too fast for others to tag them.
  • Creatures only end up with about 3-4% more health at higher gear levels after dungeons.
  • There are some outlier mobs that scale too much, but these are addressed as they are discovered.

Mob scaling is mattering less to me. I can solo elites now without fear of dying. That started at like 325ish for Guardian. It's still a crap system but I feel like our power level is increasing at a higher rate then the mob power level.

Seems like they are going with this is the same scaling that has been going on since argus. The problem being we did not hit argus scaling with leveling non max level gear. I think that is the issue that caused the big bump that has been annoying everybody. It also likely means in a couple weeks as people gear up everything settles back to normal.

for the best item in the game
Best items for just a couple weeks into the expansion ....

BOP ones at that.

Oh and the stats are completely random .....

It's a shitty design. It's not the end of the world but a spade is a spade.

They probably should have enabled it in 8.1 instead of right away but its way less of a deal at 330ish yea

Yup or the scaling at max should do a few half step bumps instead of a couple really big noticable bumps where you go from I was just lol'ing through these to holy shit this thing really is smacking me around. Also with the artifact in legion people had MUCH more consistant weapon power. In this expansion peoples weapon Ilevels are a LOT more varied as well as weapon power. So people are getting these bumps in difficulty and their weapon may lagging well behind the rest of their gear and then it just feels bad.

To go along with scaling

Mob Scaling while Leveling
  • Lack of progression while leveling is something the team understands and wants to address/do better in the future.
  • Before the world scaled to level, the increased challenge of mobs was not felt as much because it was understandable that mobs in higher level zones would increase in difficulty.
  • Mobs being more challenging at max level that were easy at lower levels is not a good feeling.

If we're talking about crafted gear, when you craft the item you also learn the pattern for the 370 upgrade, and apparently will be a further upgrade to 385 as well if I recall.

Soft caps and diminishing returns can be good, gating usually is not. Let autists rerun completed mythics and get a hydro but zero item loot. Add some repeatable faction grind quests for each group that goes up like a compounding 10% or whatever each time you do it, aka kill 100 blood wakandans for 50 wakanda rep, then its 110, then 121, etc. If I really wanna hodj my way to exalted fucking let me.

I think the issue was just the initial big bump at 120 where stuff was scaling faster than whatever weapons and stuff people had during leveling. In a week or so its going to go back to feeling normal again for everybody so annoying and awkward feeling but not really a show stopper. Once we are all running around in raid gear hell even LFR gear shits going to be easy in the open world.

So I'm at my quitting point after playing for just under a month after a few years away, here are my thoughts:

I like the mob scaling so that you can choose levelling zone order and come back later for daily quests. I also really like the design for daily quests being on the zone map and rotating every day. The quests with a progress bar and secret chests and rare bosses are fantastic for replacing all the bear asses filler. There's also some good things going on with the story. All this is MUCH improved from earlier expansions and I like how they kept the improvements from MoP/Warlords/Legion and built on them.

The "world" of warcraft is dead and I don't think they will ever recapture that vanilla feel of this incredible huge world, each expansion feels much smaller than the original vanilla world. They did a good job getting rid of flying mounts by gating them, but being able to teleport to dungeons from anywhere still devalues the geography. Cross-realm means there's no real sense of community, there's no prestige guilds on your server to avoid or aspire to join. I'm mostly neutral wih this, making it more user friendly has made it easier to play the actual game at the cost of immersion and what makes MMOs special.

What is absolutly godawful and worse than it's ever been is how you progress your character. Gear is so, so boring - just incrementing that item level. Talents are boring with set choices of three and weak artifact abilities, Diablo 2 invented the industry standard for this and they WENT BACKWARDS with it. Just LOOK at what Path of Exile is doing with gear and talent points, holy shit. Why can't I make a leech set for my disc priest for PvP, or a tank set and have some unconventional dungeon runs? Have some diversity in stats FFS! Most fun I had in WoW was tanking Stratholme with my Priest using Mind Blast to catch threat and Vampiric Embrace to heal myself and survive that way instead of mitigating the damage (though I had Inner Fire for armor). They've nerfed anything like that away for boring...

As much as there is to do in the zones, there's no point if I don't feel like I'm improving my character. Having mob scaling and no character progression just means we are still effectively at lv100 and feeling our characters get weaker as mobs strengthen to lv120.

I have played plenty of healers so I know about Clique used that since vanillia best addon in game by a country mile. I used a lot of mouse over macros as well as clique setup. One things i found with both clique and mouseover macors the bottom person in group windows (using blizard raid frames) the "hit box" windows for person is a lot smaller and I struggle to target it. I think i need to try different party/raid fraimes but I like blizzard one as it has all the debuffs by default and i don't need to configure anything.

Cheers for the tips on Disc I was making progess last night and from looking around, I might have wrong talents but lots of different opoions on talents it seems but either way I should not have halo that is for sure

I forgot which frames addon I'm using but I will look when I get home, you can scale it and configure hots/shields etc in each color. So for example I have it set up as teh following.

Top left corner Aggro dot in red
Top right corner is attonement in white
Bottom left is Shield
Bottom right is what I can dispell

Mob scaling is huge when you play a class with ramp. As a spriest, I can't pull a few mobs with dots and then AoE them down, I get faced raped. And no way am I fighting a mob one on one when a huge portion of my damage are dots. Eat dicks blizzard, big black dicks.

For me it started getting hard at 118 and ramped up from there. It's a pretty bad system.

I think that's what xzi xzi had in our mythic waycrest and it started attacking a dead mob and kept us in combat for like the entire duration

Yeah that was it. I stopped using it because it wouldn't stop attacking dead mobs. When it did proc it did quite a lot of damage though, but it wasn't often.

I want to see the preorders as I am sure that was part of the numbers. The largest factor would also have to include how many people used Gold to purchase the expansion rather than cash. THAT is a number I would love to see. I bet at least 50%.

They actually make MORE money off of this. Tokens are 20$ - you can only convert them to 15$ when added to your account. So this probably was the best selling expansion in history simply cause people used gold to buy it instead. They don't just make those tokens, somebody has to actually buy them.
