They really missed the boat on this. They never should've added all the portals in the first place... In my opinion flying should've never been added either, but it is what it is at this point.

This portal change is probably the most baffling thing ever. I truly do not understand it. People still hanging out in Dalaran because the BFA hubs suck dick? Can't have that now can we! Old content you do for fun? Enjoy the hike and smell those roses baby.

Blizzard admitted flying was a mistake. But way too far to go back on that now. Flying in the context of floating islands and whatnot like in Burning Crusade was a vision they had. What they didn't realize is that players would expect flying mounts in every single expansion following that and you didn't plan for cool floating islands in every single expansion. Or flying accessible only locations... stuff like that.
Capital City Portals in Dalaran in WOTLK may have been a mistake I guess. But they were one way at that time as I recall. Forcing everyone to travel via boats/zeppelins and stuff is cool and all and does add to the immersion thing sure. But they've simply gone way too far to consider doing that again.

After a certain period of time, game design decisions should become canon and left alone. Portals being one of them. They need to suck it up in regards to flying, and allow it in every new expac as a reward for hitting max level...AND BE FUCKING DONE WITH IT.
That they are fiddling around with stupid things like this after all the shit that they've eaten just shows me they haven't learned a thing, and WoW is dead as long as Ion is left in charge.

Pretty much everything can still be ported to with minimal grinding (caverns of time being the most annoying but.. very easy) and slightly out of the way paths, if they really want to pretend they're an RPG again it's maybe a good start, but they need better reasoning for actively removing content that has already been offered.

I really hope they all in on mobile, I truly do. The I'll laugh when the house of cards falls down on these companies, and governments everywhere figure out this microtransaction shit is just like gambling, and heavily regulate it so they get the bigger chunk of the pie, or ban it completely.

Mobile is happening whether we want it or not, just like lootboxes happened, and just like paid dlc before that happened. I wouldn't be opposed to some sort of pet battle mobile game though, it'll be about just as engaging as it already is ingame except I can do it while I'm pooping.
Realistically though, WoW2 is going to run really well on the iPhone 14 while directly extracting paypal funds for coins for more loot.
