Yeah this is my thing too, that is the only mechanic basically this entire expansion that there's no way you're doing it without a WA. Everything else, every single mechanic and skill, has a trigger that you can tell it's about to happen. Decrees changing constantly and getting shit like stand alone + soak orb. You can visually see it on people but sometimes the visuals overlap and you can't tell who has what. I understand communication is necessary but there's no way you can type that out in time, and there's no way a raid of 20 people are going to be yelling on voice at the exact same time.

It's a cool mechanic because it's up to the other people in the raid not to fuck you specifically but it really is poorly designed if you don't have something auto-announcing in chat.

Aside from Decrees, everything else is pretty easy to keep track of.

Also as to the difficulty of encounters I know I have said this before but a certain level of difficulty is good, but when you ramp it up to the point where you have to leave your friends and tell them to suck a bag of crushed assholes because you think you are Kobe Bryant and wanna play with people you hate until you realize that most of the fun of an MMORPG is the camaraderie but you threw that shit away ages ago to dick suck some Asian guild to put in 832 pulls per boss for gear that isn't even better than the WQ drop but hey at least you got +10 epeen points on your achievy score which until you realize nobody gives a fuck and you hate the every churning roster of randos you are now playing until you quit.

It kind of is at this point now that stats have inflated enough to make your class not feel bad. Few GCDs still need to fuck off but other than that, it feels like legion to me. Then again my class is for mouthbreathers and glimmer paladin is the most fun I've ever had healing in this game which means that's going away in 9.0

Still though if you're not enjoying the rest of the game then there's no point.

I think this is a big part of it too. The GCD thing made so many classes feel like shit to play, now with stats and essences filling in some gaps some are smoother for sure.

Yeah, I also REALLY enjoy essences. I have different builds for different content. My raid essences are not the same as my dungeons and those aren't the same as my pvp stuff. Even in pvp I'm constantly changing essences each game depending on what the other team looks like. I kind of hope they don't really get rid of this system but it's blizzard so.. reeeeee

You know that they will though. Shit is going in the garbage in 9.0 with the necklace just like our Artifacts. This is another thing that should of been in at the start of BFA but they feel like gating that shit until the end is good for some dumbass reason. Also the essences are gated and grinded which again is fine if you got to keep them so I would hope they would allow it but we both know deep down it wont happen.

I've messed up like 3 mechanics in 3 tiers being in FoH but sure.

I use weakauras, but I don't need to for raid mechanics. I'm serious, just turn your sound on or look at energy bars. Cooldowns and shit though? sure. I don't have any at all for the new raid and the only reason I'm using any is specifically the decrees announcing what debuffs I have so OTHER people won't kill me.

Doesn't matter though I'm just sticking to heroic in bfa because I don't want to xfer like 5 characters.

By the way where are these sound alerts coming from, and where are the energy bars you're looking at? Do you perhaps use addons that set these, make them more prominent, allow you to move them around your screen so they're easier to find?

You sound like dont even realize what DBM and the raid WA packs do.

I pugged my Ahead of the Curve : Ghuun with only bartender and that's all the justification I need to never install shit ever fuck everyone. If I was fucking up royally I never, ever got called out or ejected by any of the different guilds I found myself scabbing for back then.

edit - I'd never, ever take that weak shit in to Mythic though and never did.

Or like... The boss will have an energy bar or the blizz.UI will show different energy bars.

Granted I was a tank on Argus but I didn't use any weak auras for that boss. DBM helped fuck all with with scythe management or picking up orbs in the final phase. Or you know, counting my scythe hits so I died exactly on the 5th.

It's doable man. You don't believe it is. Maybe you're talking specifically about azshara, I don't know. We had plenty of dudes that didn't use many add-ons. You can believe we're installing 800 for each boss but in my experience that's not the case. Simply looking at the information the game is giving you is usually enough.

I've heard azshara has a mechanic that is Impossible without a WA and I'll give you that one.

Also Ghuun AOTC wasn't that bad. Not even sure you needed dbm at all for that fight

I've cleared mythic antorus before 8.0. I've raided top 50 in the world before wod/legion. Yes, in certain fights in the past there was absolutely nothing to visually show you a mechanic was happening soon but that hasn't been the case in 2+ expansions.

And no, voice cues, bosses yelling about shit = oh shit something is coming extremely soon. Boss energy near 100% oh shit something is coming extremely soon. Boss health every 25% causes a mechanic? oh shit something is coming extremely soon.

To clarify, I use addons. But I genuinely don't think I need them almost 98% of the time. DBM blasting an airhorn (on boss cues btw) helps so there's no reason not to use it, but my entire point is it's completely unnecessary.

Except Azshara. And only Azshara.

I don't know why we're arguing even, I agree with you that addons shouldn't be a part of the games. But I completely disagree that you can't raid if you don't have them because it's not been true for years for an overwhelming majority of bosses, but that's blizzards fault.
