Maybe Overwatch 2/Diablo 4 beta will save wow... for a year. That said they still have a couple of expansions(after next) worth of bleeding subs to go I'd think, and then they can probably keep going with a skeleton crew for a decade like EQ does.

As for Classic judging by twitch numbers, it's still relatively popular and the addition of new content will probably help a bunch. MC was and still is fucking awful, BWL was a bit better, AQ40 was pretty nice(and also adds AQ20 to have stuff on the side plus the gate opening event was pretty fucking great), then Zul Farrak and finally the original Naxxramas which so many people never got to experience even back then, or only a small part of it, I'd assume subs will go up and down a fair bit on Classic. It makes sense a lot of people left though, nostalgia only goes so far for many ppl, that's why I didn't bother with it, I knew I'd get tired of it a week after I hit cap. I MIGHT revisit it near the end to see all the content, but release vanilla was fucking awful imo.

I vaguely recall them saying that they are already working on expansion +2. Meaning that while we are in 8.2.5, they are tweaking 8.3, heavily working on 9.0, and brainstorming patches/expansions beyond that. This could all be different now, but I am relatively certain that was how it 'used to work' when they had an A and B team.

virtually everyone predicted this would be the case, though. They couldn't release content fast enough for Classic. Playing with 1.12 rules for leveling/endgame and everyone knowing optimal ways to do everything was going to see everyone eat up the content super quickly. Especially when you consider a large portion of the people playing had already done all of the current content for Classic 15 years ago. The style of how it plays though and how people enjoy that could absolutely be something that might help when applied to actual new content going forward, though.

I think there is a happy medium somewhere between QoL and old style gameplay that could be considered more engaging. Compared to the get your fix log in for chores every day stuff they design around now.

Slow release schedule will kill classic. Imo it should have been major content patch every 3 months.

I think the release schedule is fine outside of the lack of Honor/BGs. Those should be in a lot sooner.

Yeah, I don't mind the raid content stretching out the PvP stuff really could be fleshed out sooner. One or so nights of raiding and then roll an alt I guess? There's no need to maintain a content drought.

Still think TBC peak, although it wasn't so much Wrath on its own, just some of the shit it introduced.

Not sure going back to LK is a good idea, although they clearly left Bolvar in that spot for future use at some point. Just don't trust the writing for why he gets involved to be worth a shit.

WoTLK was the pinnacle of WoW. Ulduar and Icecrown are the 2 best raids ever released.
