It's all metrics. They think if people are logging in each day it's a big success. What they don't see is everyone hates the grind and dick punching and how unfun most systems are.

I agree.

There's a stark difference between min-maxing to push the limits of the game and min-maxing because all of that shit is baked into the base game. Which is what this is doing.

What I'm saying is that I like all the additional talent trees etc, I don't like having to do a bunch of unfun, daily timegated chores to get them.

bunch of my classic friends are gonna do shadowlands, all my retail accounts are gone I only have my classic. I really just want to do arena, havent played since cata but demon hunters look fun (i usually play rogue).

im torn between buying like the epic edition and leveling from the free character boost, or waiting a few weeks after shadowlands comes out and buy someones demon hunter accnt.. im still raiding 3 days a week on classic so not trying to do more than arena on retail unless i need to do pve for arena.

Doesn't FF14 just have gear and nothing else for progression lol?

I understand the desire to skip the leveling content - but it is obnoxiously fast to level a character to 50 right now.

You can buy my account. I have max level Priest I've taken through from Vanilla and there was a horde Demon Hunter I was levelling which is either 50 or close to it.

It's EU though.

Yes, but make no mistake: Some things like relic weapons in FFXIV are like epic weapons in EQ: Mostly a grind and running around getting all the needed items.

True endgame in FFXIV is the glamour (transmog) system, though. And housing. If you manage to get one.

But the additional "talent trees" are separated to make you log in daily and to the timegated chores. Instead they would just wrap them all in one, big talent tree.

Yeah I got some early stages of Thyrus, was fun but I think I stopped when I needed to raid to upgrade it.

WoW should be all about this, was popular when they did it in Legion right? Tie it into crafting maybe, you've used the old legends, now forge your own. Have it carry across different expansions and have alternate advancement baked in for each expansion.

Why would you buy an acct? It takes less than 8 hours to hit max level

The other problem WoW has is trying to please an impossible-to-please playerbase.

ya but how is arena now a days? do i need to PVE to get specific things to help me in arena or is it mostly just gaining gear through arena points or rankings? i dont want to get sucked into raiding on wow classic and retail, just retail arena and wow classic raiding. should i level one now or wait until shadowlands comes out? i dont have BFA so i was reading if i wait until shadowlands comes out then i wont have to buy BFA.

Scaling is gone. Corruption is gone. With the two of those out of the picture, it's a very clean experience if you're going at it now. You'll still have a lot to grind out though, so the general consensus is that its not worth it so close to the next expansion. As far as Shadowlands goes? I've seen shit all for PVP. No new content what so ever and it appears to be on the backburner. But if thats your driving force, and you want to do that in WoW - you're best just leveling a few characters to 50, get the prepatch gear thatll be out in a week or three, and put it down till SL launch. Regardless, you get a free lvl 50 character just for buying SL.

There are some mild bugs that are still present in the game that are making leveling fun/fast. Gear showing up at the ilvl of Normal Ny'alotha when you're level 45, for example. Those of which, Im sure will be fixed soon enough.
