I think his problem is more it goes from 'invest shit tons of time' in a hardcore raiding guild to a complete joke and there's nothing in between. Honestly, most of the 'normal' raiding guilds seem to have dried up into 'LFR + once or twice after a patch hits on normal before giving up' guilds at least on the servers I'm on.
Exactly. I don't have the time for a hardcore scheduled raiding guild so I'm fine with seeing that content in LFR, but why the fuck does everything have to be eye roll easy. Other games at least gave me small spurts of challenge. Heroic scenarios might be neat...

LFR is one of the few things keeping some players in the game. I'd rather play a lottery with LFR as to whether I get a fail raid or not vs. being in a fail guild that chain dies on normal raid attempts. At least with LFR, you don't feel bad about ditching the fail.
Yea but then you use all that LFR loot to... do more LFRs you also don't care about? I know that's just the way WoW is, but LFR seemed to be a good idea when I thought of it as an easy way to gear up alts and rerolls for a raiding guild. Then it replaced most of them...

Yea but then you use all that LFR loot to... do more LFRs
Welcome to Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games. This is indistinguishable from heroics. Here let me show you how it reads: "Yea but then you use all that heroic loot to... do more heroics".

It seems to me that the goal is entertainment and most people seem sufficiently entertained by LFR that they aren't willing to "pay the price" for normal raids, never mind heroics. As previously mentioned, paying the price of investing in a network of people that you know, and associate with primarily online in game only and in many cases are populated by people that you wouldn't choose to spend time with outside of raiding (or even in raiding for that matter), in order to attempt to acquire +10% "gooderer" gear at the expense of being more than +10% harder and definitely more than +10% more likely to fail (leading to 2x, 3x, 4x, the time investment) is not something that people appear to want in their entertainment.

The only real reason to do LFR more than once if you don't do normal raiding is to get gear to solo old shit, to reach the required ilvl for the next LFR tier, and for a bit of xmog.

MMOs, at their core, are about getting +betterer stuff. Whether it be LFR or "WTFISTHISOMFG" Hardcore, the principle is the same.

From the 5.3 patch notes:
Unclaimed Black Market Containers are now available on the Black Market Auction House. What's inside? It's a mystery! When opened, the container has a chance to contain any item that can be available on the BMAH.
Oh hello there, Shadow Haven Casino.

If I'm just fucking around, playing solo for the hell of it and only "raiding" through LFR nowadays is it worth losing the 2/4p set bonus from T15 gear to replace it with the 522 Shado-Pan Assault gear (assuming you have 4p by the time you're exalted with them), and if not at what ilvl would it be worth losing the set bonus given the character would only really be used in LFR, heroics and soloing old content for mounts?

That really depends on your class and spec.

Figured that might be the answer. Am working to have all at 90 in the next few weeks and then start gearing because what else is there left to do then really. I'm guessing that the 20 ilvl jump will be worth more than the set bonus for most sets so might just be a case of going with highest ilvl I can get on most characters and only really worry bout bis for one character and try to get it in to proper raiding if soemthing comes up.

Loving the LW stuff they put in with this round. Every tradeskill should get the inscription overhaul. Fuck farming raids and reps for patterns, learn them at random 1 per day until you get them all!

No. That's the bullshit focus shit WoW introduced. +stats was merely the technical medium to classify things as better when they took more effort to get. Gear decisions were interesting, not '+1'. Now it's the actual 'thing' itself. You never used to crave +4 agility because well damn, stats are good. You wanted this awesome BP that was the end of a cool quest chain or a sword that was a rare drop in a dungeon and looked badass. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'm playing catchup myself, but is there even any reason to grind golden lotus, shado pan, klaxxi reps at this point?
If you need access to some ilvl for entering 5.2 LFR; you might need to get some valor items from them. If you're good, then no.

(unless you don't do LFR, but get valor from dailies/dungeons. In which case, it's your valor dump and you need some rep to spend it)

They need to scrap the LFR and daily quest ideas, nobody likes them, not even casual players. And now from what I have read they basically force them onto normal raiders as well. Just outrageous design choices.
Probably one of the more retarded posts I've seen here. Dailies sure; LFR's are not going anywhere. The people who don't want to set a schedule to play a video game (see: majority of players) love the LFR.

They just need to offer a small group challenge. Maybe it's time I get challenge modes going. I can't seem to get my guild into them, though really my guild sucks. I stay for the few friends that haven't retired.

The solution is get rid of normal.

You have LFR = Normal and you give a bonus one piece per boss or something else arbitrary for people that queue as a group of lets say 85% of the raid.

Dailies themselves don't need to be gotten rid of. Dailies as "content" does though. I can't find it but I think it was GC that said recently they had a decision to make. Do questlines for each class or make Townlong Steppes bigger .... they are taking the easy and lazy way out every time an opportunity presents itself.

The upcoming PVP changes look interesting, wonder how things will pan out.

Additional information and explanation for the reasoning behind PvP changes will be available very soon.
  • All characters now have a base Resilience of 65%.
  • Resilience has been removed from most PvP gear.
  • Season 13 Tyrannical gear had their item levels increased to ilevel 496, up from ilevel 493.
  • Season 13 Tyrannical Elite gear had their item levels decreased to ilevel 496, down from ilevel 512.
  • Battlegrounds, Rated Battlegrounds, and Arenas now have an ilevel cap. All gear will be scaled down to ilevel 496.

Look interesting?

They made items with different stats become the same ilvl .... they done fucked up the system.

The concept of ilvl is stat budgeting. If you aren't using it for stat budgeting but just as a measurement for what zones you can enter you basically just turned it into gearscore. Way to be retarded Blizzard.

I think that's the way it was last time I was playing alot. There was honor gear and conquest gear, but there was a second set of conquest gear that had a rating requirement, but had the same stats/ilvl as the regular conquest gear. That was at the end of Cata.
