I was a "Kung Fu Panda" detractor too until I sat down and realized we had talking cows, goats, other bears, snakes, lizards, mini-jersey shoreites, and fish. Then I thought of the fact that killing a giraffe drops a worn boot....nobody questions that. Azeroth celebrates cutesy versions of every Holiday just about and has its own where you take a hapless orphan out for a fun-filled adventure for a week before locking it back in the orphanage for 51 more weeks. They've aped ancient Egypt, rainforests, Land of the Lost, Zoolander, Native Americans, Carribbeans/voodoo, metrosexuals, space, giant bugs, Greek mythology, and old England.

But damn if we don't draw the line at pandas and Far East mysticism.

I'll quote myself. I don't really get the "the look" sucks. Many of the zones are nice and impressive looking and the music is amazing. Dread Wastes is a pretty awesome looking zone as is Kun Lai.

From a raiding standpoint (heroic mode) this expansion as i have said a few times has been a blast. Encounter are varied and generally interesting, and on heroic mode pretty damn hard. Anyone who thinks this expansion is worse then cata is a beyond wrong, its head and shoulders above that.

Not at all, just make the lore interesting and actually relevant to WoW and not some random bullshit tossed in just for an excuse to have panda bears.

Time for a lolore moment.

This entire xpac has been about the after effects of the Old God-Titan war on the flesh-cursed and indigenous species of Azeroth. It has been steeped in the same lore that AQ was or even Ulduar. Ulduar was an excuse for gnomes made of clocks! What people really mean is they want to kill people from WC1-3 or that they haven't even played MoP. Those characters are just about all dead. At this point we'd have to raid Jaina (giggity) to raid an old world character. Oh and Azshara and Sargeras.

Yeah, well, the lore officially became a joke after Metzen had to apologize for his Eredar mess and blood elves were flying around in spaceships or whatever shit.

Now when you go to a Blizzcon panel about this every thing, they appear jokingly aloof and try to make everyone laugh, when in fact they're just fuckups who can't write (or design).

You mean like 90% of video game stories? They're all fucking fan fiction and tripe. Even the old Final Fantasys, Bioware's good games, or any other omg story.

If I want award winning story, I have my kindle. Just fucking entertain me, and Blizz does that good enough for me.

I don't know that games and good stories have to mutually exclusive, but MMOs as a story-telling medium does leave much to be desired (you kill Deathwing, the biggest, baddest villain yet, and get to do it all over again next week?).

I think the vast majority of WoW players give 2 feathers to WoW's Lore as long as the game itself is a fun experience, or gives them what they want. There is a reason the Lore panel at Blizzcon is so small. Certainly isn't held in the main hall like the Raid and Dungeon panel.

Never cared about the lore at all, but that never stopped me from having a good time and playing the game.

Congrats. First thing I've done in WoW in a LONG time that gave me a real sense of accomplishment, and I did it with 491 gear.
