Don't join guilds full of botters?Ban wave just killed my Mythic raiding guild. Every healer except one got banned, and nobody is really enthusiastic about leading a whole new healer core through all the content again.

"we" are you claiming to work for blizztard?psa: "agent" could detect honorbuddy, several kick- and rotationbots for quite a while now. 32 and 64 bit clients. The moment you pressed that "inject" button you know you had it coming. We just did not ban your cheating ass immediately, that's all.

Summarizing 10.000 posts in two lines. Some people even pointed out that *eric cartmann voice* "if Blizzard did not make the game so boring, we wouldn't have to bot." among many other hilarious arguments. A guy on Psynaps' Twitch stream claimed "I am busy selling arena carries, I have no time to level chars so I have to bot.""we" are you claiming to work for blizztard?
We were all europeans and we stole every worthwhile mob to americans. Much more fun and no need for ShowEQ, just a set of lowbie ranger alts or a couple crazy bards running places to track.Boy you sure paint a nice picture, but that was hardly the reality. Maybe the hours of free time and wiping was true, but a good core of members in top guilds exploited, used showEQ, shared accounts and used macros if not full on botted. My guild wasn't competing for world first, but we were always server first and everyone used showEQ and external macros - nothing to the point of botting, but all skill ups were automated as well as several other mundane things.
I think the fact Honorbuddy the week before won an appeal in Germany had a lot to do with it. They also didn't get all the bots, just pretty much Honorbuddy and a few others.Summarizing 10.000 posts in two lines. Edit: I wondered why it took so long. Things likehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHeSHT2ZDnUwere ongoing for months and more. The argument that blizzard waited for the token to hit is prolly correct. I am just really amazed how many people used scripts and stuff. And no T-Moprh user was banned; just kick, rotation and automatisation scripts/bots. These honorbuddy guys sold 100-300k licenses minimum...
I'm sure it was a combination of things. They never have been really serious about bots.I'd have to imagine part of the ban wave was because they've implemented a way to sell gold themselves.
Part of that combination was probably the degree to which botting had infiltrated raiding. It's traditionally been viewed as a professions / PvP issue.I'm sure it was a combination of things. They never have been really serious about bots.
EQ is add/ocd hit a button every gcd now just like everything else.We were all europeans and we stole every worthwhile mob to americans. Much more fun and no need for ShowEQ, just a set of lowbie ranger alts or a couple crazy bards running places to track.
Also I don't know what would you bot in EQ: one button push per 10 seconds didn't sound very intense to me (well, maybe ranger's bow attacks).
Most people would bot 2+ accounts so that they could AFK level. That was the only reason I really knew for botting in EQ. In my guild we did it the old fashion way with some insomniac 6 boxing our accounts. We were all europeans and we stole every worthwhile mob to americans. Much more fun and no need for ShowEQ, just a set of lowbie ranger alts or a couple crazy bards running places to track.

Most of those people have moved onto other bots already that aren't detected. Also I believe the EU has stricter laws on what can and can not be done when scanning a computer. I doubt a lawsuit would actually happen, you never know.If you guys want some funnies, you can go to the Honorbuddy forums and read all the people complaining about being banned. One guy even threatens legal action because they did an "illegal search" of his system to find the bot

I made a rogue bot good enough that my character went on raids while I was out. It was kind of amusing programming it, looked for keywords like 'door' and checked for locked doors in the vicinity, followed the raid leader around like a good little sheep, dragged all the corpses back to safe points after wipes etc.We were all europeans and we stole every worthwhile mob to americans. this isnt the age of EQ everyone and anyone has a microphone so yeah if you're typing during a raid you're doing it wrong and slacking off go die.I made a rogue bot good enough that my character went on raids while I was out. Started off mostly so I could keep backstabbing while chatting with people, not having constant keyboard spam made EQ a lot more social than WoW is - anyone who manages to type a sentence longer than 'hi' is obviously slacking off.
You could have converted it to a Bnet account back in 2009. In fact you had to by Nov 2009 to keep playing.Year 7 I discovered I was able to convert it to a bnet account, so I did that.
