World of Warcraft: Current Year

Hahahaha holy shit - talk about names from the dark past of the internet. I actually knew Stephanie Krutsick and met her at a meet-up ages and ages ago - she used to call herself "thebitingfaery" on LiveJournal/FARK/DeviantArt/Portal of Evil and a bunch of other Web 1.0 sites way, way, way back in the early 2000s. You can probably still find some of those old archives around, if you care to look; here's her DeviantArt page that appears to have shots of her from right around when she started at Blizzard in 2006:


As I recall, she was always pretty insufferable and desperately hungry for attention, both online and in-person, so it isn't really surprising that she's claiming to have been the victim of harassment (again).

i know privacy and revenge porn laws have tightened up a good bit since then, especially in California after the fappening.

Blizzard could be looking at criminal prosecution regarding the photos.

The filing, as a whole, is pretty damning. It tells a story of established repetitive issues, not just a few one-off allegations. Sounds like the HR dept was buddy-buddy with the higher up devs which is a red flag for internal corruption.

It also has the ring of truth about it. All of these allegations sound very much on-brand for what we have seen of Blizzard as a whole (especially during their 'rock star' years).

Acti-Blizzards response to the allegation is also quite telling. References to 'The Blizzard of today' (aka after we knew we were in trouble we fired some folk) and hollow statements like pointing to how diverse their board of directors is. They don't call out a single allegation as false...

Not often ya wake up and have to catch up on several pages in a thread.

Holy fuck. The biggest and I mean the biggest take away here is this: the sate of Cali went through at LEAST 2 years of investigation to even come to this level of we're suing you. The company is pretty much a ship on fire in the sea.

What?!??! There were articles on every major gaming website about him leaving AND Blizzard released a gushing statement about what Kaplan meant to the company. Could not have more different.
