Mechanically I don't like the HP system at all, for any spec except Holy.. but prot is still remarkably better than other tanks in good gear lol
True, but playing whack-a-mole with HP and procs just seems less fun to me than the fluid 9-6-9 of LK. Ret is even worse because it's gone from waiting on cooldowns ala Cata to huge amount of haste causing me to have too many shits up at any given time. DPS wise, I have no complaints but the sheer amount of button mashing in spastic fashion is definitely lacking fun wise.

Every time Thanksgiving rolls around, I remember stumbling around Thunder Bluffs on my old laptop while being home from college. The game had been out for a day or two at that point and was so much more smooth and fluid than I had expected. It was pouring rain in Massachusetts on release night, but I was thankfully able to find a copy at an EB in the hood. All of the servers that I had initially wanted to play on were barely functioning; I chose Doomhammer for no other reason than it worked and I wanted to explore the game. That was about 9 years ago now. I played fanatically between classes and was level 60 by New Years, putting up dismal grades in the process. The early days of vanilla were exceptionally fun for me, and whenever Thanksgiving comes around, I always look back and remember what a good time that was.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

I play on Doomhammer also. I actually rolled on Archimonde originally, but then I found out a huge chunk of my old EQ1 guild was playing Alliance side on Doomhammer, so I rolled there a few days after launch ;P

May you be out in some sort of storm and have car problems that require you to check under the hood and the car battery explodes in your face.

He's forsaking the corporate pressure of big names like Blizzard and SOE to join McQuaid's team and make his dream game.

Yeah basically it went like this: 85 hunter with dragon soul gear - jade forest > kun lai summit > a little klaxxi and 90. Went to timeless, looted all the chests in a day and got to 480ish ilevel, missing only neck weapon and a second trinket. Granted, a hunter has a super easy time of this with camoflage/feign/pet tank. Used my free 535 token on chest, ran one scenario for the 450 weapon, and then ran all the LFRs through Throne of Thunder in hopes of a weapon and upgrades. Got nothing useful from all those raids (THREE non-set BPs!) except a neck that pushed me into Siege of Orgrimmar ilevel after buying a trinket with JP. Between those raids and doing Isle of Thunder dailies the first pair of legendary quests were done in a week, but I had to wait for reset to get Sha again to start the 3k valor part, bah.

At this point I gemmed/enchanted/reforged and hit SoO hoping I wouldn't get booted for doing dps below the tanks. Except I never did worse than top 8 on any boss and laughed my balls off for worrying about underperforming.

So coming in at 85 it took less than two weeks to reach the point where the minimum weekly effort is running Siege LFRs and advancing the legendary cloak quest, and doing enough other crap to cap valor (trivial). Everything else is pretty much optional, like working through Isle of Thunder/Timeless quests and the various storyline crap I've missed since 5.1. Which isn't to say there isn't more than enough to do, but given how long there is to do it, there's no pressure to log in for hours every damn day like before.
Hate to tell you... you don't need to wait for Sha reset to get the Chimera. You can redo a LFR terrace raid and get the Chimera for the quest.
If your looking for a specific drop from a boss, you can even rerun LFR and use a token for another chance again too.

All of the class decisions were GC. Making each class stand out instead of being subpar like they were during TBC (prot paladins really only good for Hyjal, Ret paladins lol 10 second crusader strike).

Ulduar was the last raid done under the watch of Jeff Kaplan (pls come back)
Bro, ret was godlike in Ulduar

I miss the fact that they were an incredibly good support healer with judgement of light. I was usually high on the dps, and #1 on heals back then on most hardmode fights lol

Drow? We had a few Drow guys go awol and roll on Horde to join Juggernaut. One of them was from the Rathe as well.

do those free months count toward RAF? i assume that when you create a new account with a battlechest, you just don't get charged for a month, instead of having a credit given to you. i want to get my wife one of the RAF reward mounts/pets for christmas and just trying to figure out the cheapest way to do it.

Negative. You do not get the RAF Mount/Pet until you have paid for two months.

Pretty sure it just means you get a free copy of the battle chest, not free game time.

Not thanksgiving but wow-specific...

I bribed a buddy to stay home and wait for a special delivery at my house (he was my neighbor too). I got my engagement ring for my wife from Blue Nile, a CE of Wow and a regular edition of Wow delivered all at the same time. He had to sign for the ring as I was at work, then he called me, I "got sick" and we rolled on shattered hand together with the rest of the Drama fucktards. I'm pretty sure we played through thanksgiving. But that was my memory of Launch.

Anyone use ElvUI? I had a question about configuring something and half of the google searches I've done come up as "Website disabled."
