It may mean somebody like a fury warrior could switch to defensive stance and hold agro long enough to buy you time to battle rez a main tank.

I noticed when i hopped on the beta that ret paladins got their T16 4P bonus implemented directly into the class via a perk (holy power consuming skills have a 25% chance to make the next divine storm free of cost and deal 50% more damage or something). which is actually pretty damn awesome and brings some nice flavor to the class.

So far i'm pretty damn inclined on maining my paladin, i just need to get some god damn luck for a bulwark to drop for me finally

(been farming it for years off and on now..)
I've hated ret since they changed it after Ulduar but it's starting to look pretty damn awesome again
I enjoy ret, but the 4 piece bonus is in all actuality pretty marginal. Once you are 40-50% haste you'll almost never get a chance to use the free DS in a single target fight because it is pretty much the lowest priority in your rotation. However, it can fill in as a healing mechanism when you glyph for it so it can have some utility use on damage heavy fights. I especially like it on heroic immerseus and it has helped out on Garrosh before too.

honestly, i have no experience playing ret outside of a couple LFR runs on my paladin to get him some ret gear for leveling in WoD (stopped playing ret after the changes post Ulduar). Thats a shame but it's still nice to have the option for that. I figure since it will buff the damage by 50%, and the T17 4P bonus will increase it by another 100% it might actually be pretty viable come WoD?

Either way, I like it lol

Might be switching to warrior if the recent prot paladin changes stick. 50% nerf to self healing as prot paladin is just...I can't even words. Lay on Hands, the iconic paladin ability, now heals for 50% of your HP as a tankadin.

Meanwhile prot warrior self heals are untouched...oh and glad stance.

Along with the tank squish is a mob damage squish that balances everything out so that tanking ability isn't nerfed. On top of that, supposedly the tank changes also increase the risk to non-tanks taking damage. In other words, if your tank sucks or your DPS can't manage their threat, the chances of healers and DPS with aggro dying are greater.
So we're back to the threat game instead of the cooldown rotation game instead of the movement game instead of the....

Just seems like a giant shift every expac in how tanks work instead of combining elements of all of it.

Every tank needs to start realizing their class WASN'T singled out here. ALL TANKS WERE NERFED. This change in particular isn't even related to the latest 'tank squish'. Player health pools are being doubled in relation to healing throughput abilities, so any %-based heals were chopped. Also, warrior 'self heals' were basically non-existent to begin with, they are in no way anywhere near the other tanks' heals after the changes.

The way I see it, I'll miss being immortal (I mean, soloing raid bosses on heroic mode, soloing hard-hitting world mobs like the zandalari while being 100% hp all the time etc) but I think it's better for the game if I'm not. I remember being hella impressed when a priest + warrior duo'd the entirety of BRD in vanilla, I'd rather have the gameplay be that. Right now you don't really need healing as a tank, your survivability is all up to you. It should be a bit more split with the healers.

Monks should get a quality of life buff though, the first keg smash we do in a fight should give us a couple of seconds of shuffle. It's so fucking frustrating trying to pick up aoe trash mobs when the entire raid of dps horny fuckers are at 585+. If I slack on a second with my aoe abilities, people overaggro like the retards they are and end up dying. Even spending that global on a blackout kick can be too much at times. I guess it'll be fine with the chi explosion.

Oh btw, anyone who's up to date with the beta, how would you rate the tank strength currently?

In MoP the monk was the best tank, in WoD it won't be or at least it won't be so pronounced, plus they are getting some skills gutted, including Clash which was a fun one. I've never been a single-class-single-spec guy, I like at the very least to play multiple specs and the monk options are an okay melee dps and a bad healer (it's a matter of mechanics, not numbers), while druid or paladin offer imo a better experience.

On the other hand I got an invite for WoD beta, so I'll soon be able to try out several different things.

The 4pc bonus is far from marginal, and makes us very useful AE class when the situation calls for it.

I take you read the first line and replied to that? It's pretty marginal as in it's not something you absolutely have to have to do good DPS. Read the rest of my original post on it.

To add to that, I see people blowing their whole rotations on DS procs during single target fights and wrecking their DPS all the time. They feel compelled to hit the shiny button.

When i heard about that it made me question if they'll just make any potential world bosses immune to it lol
Having 100 people drop nukes on a world boss would be pretty silly

Aw yeah, AOC, 4 piece, leg meta gem = 200k dps on week 4 of rogue. Just runestones left to do.

Now I just need 40 more ilevels so I can get invites to flex3/4 and watch most people do sub 150k.

Way too much effort for gear that will all get replaced by greens in the first couple zones! I can't believe that people are still grinding Legendary Cloaks for their 18th alt.

About how long would it take to get a legendary cloak though for a new player?
I mean I started the quest on my druid but I don't want to play it til WoD, I just have no interest. Leveling a new pally instead. So, just curious?

Well if you want to play WoW between now and WoD what else are you going to do? Especially if you want to get heirlooms from Garrosh which absolutely will not be replaced by any greens in the first couple of zones.

xzi: The quest takes probably 6-7 weeks for most people. There is still a hard 3 week gate on the valor portion.
