That shit can go both ways. I personally would rather see someone with an legit, solid name. But I wont totally ignore someone that doesnt take their character as serious as I do. As long as they play their class well and dont cause drama - I just dont care. Besides, any really dumb shit and the GM's will usually take it away (eventually). Hell, I couldnt even have "Daidraco Extenze" on project 1999.I love terrible names, and they should never be forced to change or remove them. They tell me instantly who not to invite to group. Got tildes, accents, and ampersands? Rape featured prominently? Sweet, auto-filtering.
One of the things EQ2 and LOTRO got right was providing trophies that you could use to decorate your house. Hopefully garrisons in WoD will have a trophy room of some type. Can you decorate the garrisons? Also, can you place items on walls or the ground like in DAoC? It really would be a nice way of dealing with quest items(The ones with clickie effects and such) that just take up bank space.
Surely there is a rate of diminishing returns. it sounded to me like people progressed through SoO at a decent clip without going ballistic on the raiding. What other shit do you reallyhaveto do in WoD?Starting to accept that the freedom of playing on my own schedule (pugging) may not be worth the 10-20x increase in time spent.
All the garrison stuff.Surely there is a rate of diminishing returns. it sounded to me like people progressed through SoO at a decent clip without going ballistic on the raiding. What other shit do you reallyhaveto do in WoD?
1) Hit level cap.
2) Silver in PG
3) Run Heroics until your RL is happy with your ilvl.
4) Raid on schedule.
Is there some hidden "keep doing this shit constantly" mixed in-between here that is abnormal to the genre?
Yep, there are plenty of good players named xXRaPeUrBuTtXx. We've had some on our raid team over the years. Generally it's not the playskill that creates the "Nope" response, but the 14-year-old-pvp-kid-except-actually-32-years-old-and-should-really-be-over-this-shit personality that seems to overwhelmingly nestle in those names' tender embrace.I don't get your guys' logic for getting butthurt over silly names. So many top players have stupid names its ridiculous, both in PVE and PVP.
"Dude named Dickbuttsupreme w/ 2500+ rating, CM gear and heroic achievements? Musta been carried!"
I mean, I really don't care but its pretty comical that you guys feel that way over a name
Haha I wasn't mad really. More like amused and betrayed since Furor himself took the time to force the name change during his (what seemed like) once a week hour logins. It was an expired joke about our Naxx 40 era hunter cadre who were impossible not to rib every now and then. Bahston Cahlage Burkex, dial-up Sean, and whatever the was joke about Jwil. Leveled that bastard just to herb for Naxx40 pots and gold farm since while that may have been the first golden era of resto shaman unless I was tapped to duo farm crusader orbs I was god damn penniless. Miss those days. Naxx 40 before all the drama was by far the period of my gaming life I remember most fondly. Kinda bittersweet because of all the shit that went down towards the end that lead to first "Retirement" though. Hmm nothing else to do maybe I'll start a new thread. The only thing funnier than people getting mad about stupid names is people getting mad when their stupid names are taken away.![]()
No deaths!? But seriously some classes snipe heal better than others and some classes (I'm looking at you disc priest) just put out so much healing it pads the meters. If i was in the position to look over logs for a healer I'd check what they did when major raid damage occurs. Granted I've never done so personally, but if I did thats where I'd start. Is there a way to measure healer performance to a certain standard? For example, tanking I think can be measured by up-time of the various active mitigation buffs (shuffle, shield of the righteous, etc); dps can be measured as a % of maximum output by uploading gear into simcraft (or perhaps number of uses of a skill on a fight versus number of maximum possible uses).
But is there a fair way to set an expectation of healing performance?
That's pretty much it right there. You can't really get a fair picture of how well healers are doing compared to each other if no one dies. It's much easier to figure out who messed up if someone died (and it wasn't their own fault). Turning on the death recording in recount helps. It shows a log of all the incoming damage and healing on an individual player for like 10+ seconds before they died. If they died to a hit of 5000 dmg and were only healed by aoe heals during the entire 10 seconds, it's probably a healer's fault. It still depends on the context of what was going on at that moment in the fight though (tanks died, etc).No deaths!?
They bring in the 'new valor points' for you to buy things. How is the garrison shit any different than all the stupid fucking crafting/harvesting since the game released? I understand progression raiders may need to farm up gold for consumables, but other than that, what is it about the garrison shit that makes it mandatory for PVP/PVE progression?
edit: My point is, what do youHAVEto do... not "what does Kruegenfeellike he has to do because he has been min/maxing for 20 years and can't give it up"
Generally speaking yes, but specifically no. Healing meters are almost worthless, they tell you if a healer is sleeping, afk or dpsing, but not much more. They certainly tell you the average gear level (in LFR), but they are extremely often padded by retards or retarded mechanics (e.g. Divine Star on 20 stacked people). You could theoretically work some napkin math on healing and overhealing, but even there some classes have a huge advantage because they "steal" the healing with absorbs. Is there a way to measure healer performance to a certain standard?
