I didn't say tanking in Mythic was easy; I doubt any role is easy.

What I meant was: DPS can look up top 1 percentile parses and have a goal to shoot for: do insane DPS without fucking up mechanics enough to wipe the raid. I have a minimum of sensibility required as a tank to beat fights on Heroic... anything past that and it really doesn't fucking matter. My DPS goes up 30 percent if I'm "playing hard", but no one gives a shit and it really doesn't influence raid success (Pre-Mythic, mind you... I don't have enough Mythic experience to comment).

I hope BRF has more "tank checks".

EDIT: I know a good tank is a badass for 5 man content, but 5 man content lasted me about a week tops.

Grimrail was fun. I did it last night on heroic as a healer for the first time and started that fight with 10% mana. Thank god for shadowfiend and smart party members.

That must have been earlier notes before they "refined" or clarified them. They buffed Assassination Rogue's Assassins Resolve by 7% which puts it at 22% up front 15%.

In that case then yes, it's hard to differentiate between a good tank and a mediocre one in anything pre-mythic...because there are no one shot mechanics from bosses. Any fuck-ups you make can be solved with external cooldowns and extra healing. I was off last week but my guild decided to do a normal and heroic clear...one of our dps warriors went prot for it and after checking the logs I noticed he didn't use a SINGLE defensive cooldown the entire night. No shield block, no shield barrier, no last stand, no shield wall...nothing. One shot everything normal and heroic.

Meanwhile, if I don't pop shield barrier and enraged regen (and pray to god my healers have me topped off) on a Brackenspore breath or use sblock before I taunt the add during the tank swap I am an instant corpse. Tanking the add with more than 4 stacks of the debuff is just chaining cd's and praying your dps can kill it before it starts hitting you for 300k+...while dodging mushrooms and LOLINVISIBLEWAVES.

That's just depressing (that you guys are full-clearing Heroic with a non-AM using tank). Maybe I need to drop my friendly casual guild and do Mythic.

I imagine the whirlwind pulling you in takes a while to get used to. The other mechanics don't look crazy just no real forgiveness. I ran through a fire in heroic last night just to be speedy and because I knew I'd live. Can't do that at the next level.

And even with that my pug managed to wipe last night once. If you have people tap dancing on mines and ignoring adds it is still possible to fail on LFR but it takes effort.

I almost wiped on Twins LFR last night

Other tank was a derpy motherfucker and kept pulling the WW one away the entire fight. He and about 12 DPS eventually died so I just tanked them both (like I did in Normal). I almost saw a wipe in LFR and I feel like I could have won a prize.

The healers were getting pissy at me on Koragh because I pulled when they were low mana so I told them not to heal me. Kept myself up the whole fight.

Yeah some people take LFR really seriously. We were doing ready/pull checks before each fight for the 2nd wing. Then the genius who was MT/leading didn't even know how to tank the twins correctly and they were about 35% apart the entire fight. And of course a ton of DPS was getting slaughtered by WW.

I learned in LFR that the best place to tank the twins is dead center of the room. That way everyone gets shitloads of extra rage.

LFR is funny, having some dude caps lock the entire raid yelling at people for stepping over mines that do 1000 damage and not aoe the explosive adds was cracking me up, once Impregnator opened up last night

Was in a heroic pug last night that ended up going 6/7 pretty flawlessly. That being said, when I moved Phemos to his WW position, THREE DPS followed me because they were on Phemos. What the fuck.

On a different note, Gorehack, I'd like to see logs of this DPS warrior switching prot and tanking with zero AM skills. I simply cannot see how that's possible, especially on a fight like Butcher. I'm at 661 with pretty decent stat allocation (3 665 crafted, a few BIS...). I am pretty sure that if I stopped using tanking abilities on the Butcher I'd get pasted relatively quickly.

For whatever reason DBM doesn't alert me as loudly as I'd like for WW. It just casually puts a bar up going "It'll happen" but if you don't notice the bar pop up you can get fucked pretty hard. If you go into autopilot as melee dps it happens.

Best thing to do is to watch their energy instead of relying on DBM as a tank for me. Relying on DBM caused me to delay WW when it fucks up but if you watch their energy yourself its much easier.

The best way to avoid this is when the tank moves the boss don't follow them

Yeah as melee DPS I just stay on Pol with the exception of a few seconds where he shield charges. WW happens after that so you don't find yourself chasing Phemos into death.
