I dunno about that. Id say its probably better than at least half of hollywood writers;

just because incompetent writers are incompetent, doesnt mean Hollywood will use works from a program thats even more incompetent. that stuff i see linked is just word salad gobbledygook. it means absolutely nothing. until AI can build a digitial concordance that rivals what a successful writer can create and reference, this will remain a pipe dream or just a tool to aid mediocre writers who lack creativity.

It broke at the end, lol. I regenerated it.

It broke again. I think it runs out of gas.

This is a good example of competent but bad writing. There's technically nothing wrong with it, but it's generic and boring af. An actual writer would have to do a lot of work to make this remotely watchable.

As a non-writer I'd be kinda curious to read an experience of a writer trying to create a "well-written" chapter or screenplay for an episodeor scene based on ChatGPT. Like you said it's generic and boring. Are there prompts that you can give ChatGPT that excite the right kind of interesting prose? Is there some kind of continuity check that ChatGPT can help provide to a script as it goes through editing? Can ChatGPT help writers "break through" writers block? Is the effect of a stale but usable skeleton something that acts as an impediment to a final script?

Why not up the ante and ask to see a script writer write something that's not trite garbage? Most of these people are hacks. That AI isn't writing super compelling stuff doesn't let the writers off the hook for doing the same.

Let's ask it!

It's going to come down to custom data sets of others and your own work, We can call it NovelGPT, or ScriptGPT, etc. This will greatly improve the writing, since there is less noise for it to hallucinate on.

I'd recommend you check out the Writing Prompts reddit from time to time - occasionally, some good writers will show up to flesh out a prompt and create something pretty decent

I think the things that make a good writing are the layers of subtext, the metaphors and analogies, building intriguing characters and weaving them in like a sewing needle through the plot. Those can be imitated as AI gets more advanced but being able to get the human experience might be hard. Being able to draw on past experiences, traumas, joys, that feeling when you're under a canopy of a street corner pizza restaurant and its night time and raining and the air is clean and the girl sitting across from you makes eye contact. The crushing feeling of loss, the elated feeling of success.

Its also the anomalies, the mistakes that writers make that make it feel human. The idiosyncrasies of being a fucking lunatic (Hunter S Thompson), the moral integrity of being a war hero (JRR Tolkien).

As many inputs as we can put into machines, can they really match the life experience of one good writer, let alone a room full of them?

This isn't to say that whatever passes for writing in hollywood today isn't a joke. It's extremely hard to find a good work let alone a great work in much of American media today. One of the worst things about writing today is they all play off these preconceived narratives and trends that are pop culture. You think if AI starts doing this shit it won't get worse? Lets not forget most of this shit is the fault of the studios in the first place. This writers strike won't do shit to help fuck.

it just goes to show how far modern writing has degraded that we are considering using machines to fill in the storyline deserts that hollywood is creating. too bad they cant use ChatGPT to create new franchises. then they can ruin somebody else's shit and leave the classics alone.

A good writer isn't afraid of AI taking their job. The hacks that do nothing and collect checks are the ones shitting themselves.

The idiots at my company are literally saying they want to offload work to AI. Not to to other more important shit. Just to not hqlave to do it.

Way to telegraph.

Tbh, gpt is on par with most Hollywood writers already, but that’s mostly a sign of how shit they are.

Of course, here's a shorter version that conveys Folders' reverence for the black logs:

In the heart of the forest, Where the trees stood tall and proud, Lived a man named Folders, Whose love for black logs was loud.

He'd wander through the woods with care, And seek out the finest wood, But it wasn't just their earthly beauty, That made Folders feel so good.

For in each log he saw a gift, A spirit pure and true, And when he held them in his hands, His reverence shone through.

He'd caress and handle them with care, As if they were gems of gold, And let their energy fill him up, As their stories they quietly told.

For Folders knew the magic, That lay within each log so black, And with their love inside of him, He never looked back.

Hard pill to swallow for you all

Bad writers aren’t some new invention born from current culture

Bad writers have always existed. There has always been shit tv and movies.

The only thing that has changed is decades ago, shitty stuff just faded away. Now you have thousands of dipshits making you hyper aware of literally everything 24/7

This “hur dur Hollywood sux all writers bad I miss good old days” is just rose tinted goggles.

You remember Deep Space 9 because it has great writing and acting. You don’t remember Homeboys in Space or the V reboot because they sucked ass

Spare us the faggot horse shit, if they are bad they don't deserve a raise, or money period in the first fucking place. And if they have talent they end up employed. Most writers today in Hollywood don't even right they just rehash other peoples shit and faggot it up more.

Hey lets do the little mermaid but with a American Inventor
Hey lets do the Nordic vikings but they are American Inventors
Hey lets do a childrens story but add fags and dicks to it...

Anyone supporting the writers strike is a fucking retard and deserves to be unemployed right along side them.
