Are you talking about on Beta? Because Berserkers felt more like they had +50% vs. the +100% that the lower tier stuff got - although I've not done a direct comparison, I know Lost don't have modified HP at all. But I'd not be surprised to see that Chrysalids don't get +100% either.

For all the Chrysalids on my normal WotC run the pods didn't give me much trouble at all - I think I had one spawn ever and I trashed it before it even popped a single one.

No, normal. Guess it is all down to how xcomed you get on the mission. Watched Cohh get a retaliation strike with chryssalids + a chosen. When he got past the chosen and the regular mob clusters there were already something like 4 of the pods spawning chryssalids, where they spawned and ran straight for survivors killing at least 2x people a turn. Not that he couldn't kill them if he had time (I think Chryssalids that spawn in pods have half of the HP of normal ones), just that it was impossible to keep up to them slaughtering civilians. By the time he could focus on them he only had 6 people left on the map and only one saved. He had to evac as he already had lost soldiers too. Not sure how it works, but appears that in retaliation strikes, mobs that start on the mission are hardcoded to only kill one civilian a turn no matter how many mobs there are that can do turns. However, the chryssalids that spawn through pods don't seem to have that rule.

No doubt you can get really xcomed by getting a mission with chyssalids, chosen + alien hunter too. I'm still scared of doing a facility mission and unlocking the berserker hunter. That guy is broken.

Ah, yea on my WotC run I ignored the Hunters completely, so never got bogged down with them. And Assassin I killed early, so Chosen never really bogged me down during retaliations (I find it easy enough to ignore Warlock and Hunter until the map is clear) - and by the time I got to Chrysallids I had full Plasma running, mind you. (And I think I had a few +1 damage upgrade bonus developments too)

Heck, on my second Beta run (decided I liked Skirmisher start better) before I got frustrated with it due to it crashing too often, I finished basic Plasma before Berserkers even started showing up, lol.

For you "recheater" people, there's now a WOTC mod that changes them to be a flat +dmg on crit. Personally I think the values are a little low (1/2/3) and I would probably double them, but if you don't like how they normally function there's a quick fix - besides you know, not using them in the first place.

Yeah that's terrible. Grimy had a mod from when Alien Hunters first came out that made repeaters do 1/2/3 damage to rulers instead of instakilling them, I'm trying to find someone to update that for WotC to work on Chosen as well, add a 4th tier, and make it doubled when Beta Strike is active.

I still swear the proc rate is nerfed on Beta. I got one execute in all my Beta games to date until I evacuated from Irma.

I live on a barrier island, I don't expect to have a house afterwards.

I do have the tower with me though, once we'll be somewhere more than a night.

If you really cared about saving the human race from genocide, you wouldn't go running for shelter just because a hurricane the size of Texas was bearing down on your especially vulnerable home.

Has anyone had a hack mission with a half squad yet? I'm trying it right now, and I am having trouble. Got 2 mechs, 3 troopers, a codex, an archon, a specter, a sectapod, a shieldbearer, and another trooper to deal with. The sectapod is really giving me trouble.

I'm thinking just taking it on straight ahead. I had been thinking of taking it on stealthily, but once they all jump me, I'm fucked. It really doesn't matter what I do first, expose a pod or hack the terminal. I've taken a grenadier, a specialist, and a sharpshooter.

Actually no, I tried taking them head on, went through it with no problem. Those missions are difficult, especially if you don't have the properly ranked officers. I was thinking of taking a blademaster in place of the grenadier, but those are situational.

Blademaster is never situational once you kill the assassin chosen. The never-miss ignores-armor max damage sword he gives you is the most busted shit in the entire game.

Specialists are the worst class in XCom 2 by far. They have the least amount of firepower of all the classes and you took one on a mission where you need the maximum amount of firepower per soldier. You would not have had as much trouble with a better lineup. Yes, it sucks not having a specialist to gun for the juicy hack rewards from a hack objective, but I would never take one on a low profile sitrep, or whatever it's called.

Are they though? I like taking them on missions for a free skullmine per mission, that can give you 20 or 40 more intel, which early game is a lot. That intel translates to about 200 supplies on the Black Market - thats somewhat substantial early game. If the jack fails, you've basically insta-killed a trooper with at most sacrificing 3 hp. Especially if its an armored/high health trooper, that can be a big deal. Hacking those intel towers are useful too, and for some missions, if you hack a sectopod, that thing by itself can tank and kill a group or two of enemies. I once hacked a sectopod to fight a Chosen and then killed it 1 turn because of the sectopods armor shred and its 3 attacks can do most of the work.

Yes they aren't the best at dealing damage, but hacking is useful and late game, you'll get into situations where mental effects come into play and the specialist can help a lot handling that. If all else fails, it can pass its 2 bond actions to its bond mate if you have nothing else to do. Definitely not the strongest class, but I don't think they are that weak to the point I wouldn't take them on a mission.

Ehhh, I mean, specialists are low DPS, but if you spec them with Covering Fire and Guardian then they increase their DPS dramatically if left in the middle of a fight. 'Cause right now, I have mine with the warlock's (maybe?) weapon. He's a beast. There are sometimes that he gets off like 5-6 shots. Take that 8-10, multiply out. That covers the spread easily. If you're wondering why I didn't give it to a ranger, it was because I have storm guns. Storm guns out damage everything with the exception of the hunter's weapon.

Aside from the incredibly broken katana, the chosen weapons mostly suck. I mean it's sorta nice having a 3 shot serial every single round with the hunter weapon, but the lack of an expanded magazine means it's pretty awful with kill zone and the actual serial ability. The shotgun is just a stormgun with a 4th mod wasted on stock, the warlock rifle is basically just a vanilla plasma rifle, and the pistol is just a plasma pistol with free AP ammo (but cant benefit from any other ammo). I mean obviously they can't be too powerful without throwing the game even farther out of balance, but I would have liked something more unique like the alien hunter weapons.

I especially like giving the storm gun the +crit mod and talon rounds. Point blank shots are guaranteed crits and do 20% more because of talon rounds, and you can get point blank shots way easier with run and gun. Late game when you get rapid fire as well, and can basically murder something on its own.

I think the main point of the Chosen weapons is they are pretty powerful if you get them early. If you abuse the promotion covert ops missions you can get a major pretty quickly and unlock a stronghold or two, long before you get plasma weaps and unlock full weapon mod slots.
