For what it's worth i think this game is really short, something around 5? chapters. I've done almost every side quest/bounty etc in the game in ~25 hours played and i'm on chapter 4 so the length is pretty similiar to the length of what The man who erased his name was.

Getting 150+ hours out of IW for the same price as this feels pretty bad though, i'd wait for it to go on sale IMO

Either way it's been fun but if you have a backlog; play other shit and wait for a sale lol

Seems like the "side" games are going to be like this from now on. About 24 hours in and did a lot of side stuff (all pirate stuff, most bounties, etc) and just focusing main story now to finish before Monster Hunter Wilds.

I will say that doing the side quests first has simplified the game immensely and its just face roll now. If you want to fully enjoy the game try find a balance of main story and side quests since the game is shorter than the usual Yakuza.

Loving IW after a long break after Like a Dragon and Judgment. I'm in chapter 8 and want to play the man who erased his name. Should I stop IW and play through that first or can I go play it after finishing IW?

I dont think it matters when you play it, most of what Kiryu gets up to between Y6 and IW is explained throughout IW anyway. I haven't bothered to play it yet but will eventually get around to it sometime between this pirate game and the next release

Finished the plat on Pirate Yakuza last night and it was by FAR the easiest platinum trophy in this series. One playthrough, took me about 50 hours I'd say. Stark contrast to Zero where I think I have 100+ hours in it and am not even close. Fuck the cat fights and disco lol. Incredible game, though. The writing is absolutely top notch in zero and I can't stop recommending it to people who have no clue about the series.

I played through Kiwami 1 and that one was great. Jumped right into Kiwami 2 and didn't make it past the first couple hours. For some stupid reason Zero/Kiwami 1 runs at 60FPS on PS5 but Kiwami 2 runs at 30FPS. I'm not a snob when it comes to frames but after hundreds of hours between those two games it felt so baaaad to play. Apparently on PC you can unlock it for higher frames but not on PS5. So fucking dumb. Are the rest like this too? I was hoping to just play through the whole series.

I'll probably go back and try to finish up the plat on LaD and IW.

It's been a while since I touched them but I think all the Yakuza games on Gamepass were 60fps+, but they are all being removed this month until who knows when so ;`(

Just 5 and 6 getting removed this month. 0-2 and 7 are sticking around, and the rest already left before this.

Pirate Yakuza being on the shorter side is good for me. I've got a list a mile long of things to play/watch/read/do and not enough time to do much of it. I had to completely give up on getting the platinum for Infinite Wealth, unfortunately.

Man Who Erased His Name is criminally underrated. It's basically an alternate Yak 7 with Kiryu in it before they recombine the storylines for IW, and even though it's a side game and a bit shorter, I found it to be more enjoyable than some of the main series entries. Specifically, I think it's better than Yak 3, 4, or 6. That's just me though.

Yakuza Zero is my favorite Yakuza game outside of the two LADs. It's so goddamn good and I think it got overlooked somewhat, much like MWEHN. Glad playable Goro is coming back in Pirate Yakuza. Was hoping PY would get here before this weekend so I could play it over the weekend, but unfortunately it still hasn't arrived (ordered it like a week ago). So instead I got in some more Deep Space Nine time (something I know you can appreciate). Almost at the end of Season 5 now. Been chipping at that show for several years.

I played Zero, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, etc all pretty much in a row back on the PS4 (2019 or so I think) and didn't even realize there was a framerate difference (maybe they were all 30 on the PS4). Can understand why Kiwami 2 would have an FPS drop, because Kiwami 2's visuals are much higher-res than the previous two. Better light effects and everything. Probably the prettiest game I ever played on the PS4.

I'd say Yak Zero and Yak Kiwami are the best one-two punch the series offers up until the two RPGs. The whole Akira Nishikiyama saga is something no other game or villain in the series ever managed to equal, and it ends with the first game / Kiwami. I don't know how the framerate is in 3-6 but I don't think anyone is missing anything crucial by skipping ahead from Kiwami 1 to the LADs. Kiwami 2 is worth playing but only if it's fun to play.

GL getting the plat on LAD and IW. I had the idea of doing the same thing recently and took a stab at both. It quickly became clear that they're both insane time investments and there was no way I'd be able to do them both. They join Fallout 4 as the only platinums I've ever made a serious attempt at and given up on. Think my next plat will be FF7 Rebirth instead, at least that looks pretty doable.

LAD isn't seeming so bad. I had about 70% completion for trophies by the time I originally beat the game, I just picked up where I left off with a post game save. Most of what I'm missing now is just the two post game dungeons and some busy work like using summons 40 times and finishing up the racing minigame. There is a couple other ones I am missing but its just little stuff I'll get along the way. I do need to grind some in the Kamurocho dungeon for level 99 and job xp.

I really like how they made his fighting styles work with the JRPG format too. He's got a little something for everything. He will automatically do heat actions too for big damage depending on positioning and if what you are fighting is close to a car, wall, or some other object. You may need to get his friendship up for that though I can't remember.

I made him a samurai for a bit, too. Burning arrow is soooo gooood.

The class system in Infinite Wealth is siiiiick. I ended up keeping everyone in specific classes for most of the endgame. Chitose was a Tennis Ace (since I...like female tennis outfits), Kiryu was Dragon of Dojima, Adachi was always a Linebacker, etc. I don't think I ever changed Seonhee out of her default class because her default outfit is so damn good.

In other news, I'm playing Pirate Yakuza. It's a decent time and super high-quality as usual, but it feels very much like a (large) DLC. It's only five chapters and the world seems very limited in scope. Definitely getting the "spinoff" vibe that I got with Issin.

Spinoff smaller games are usually what is in between the main numbered releases I think. Between LAD7 and infinite wealth there was lost judgement, inshin, and the man who erased his name. I havent played any of those yet so can't attest to how long they are though im pretty sure mwehn was shorter. I think it was four years between LAD7 and 8.

I got 50ish hours out of it to plat, and had a pretty good time. The ship battles are cool, but beating all the arena ones was kind of a slog but wasn't too too bad.

I'm really digging the ship-to-ship battles. It's like being back in 2014 playing Assassin's Creed 4. Also like the laser-tracing on all of Goro's attacks. Whole game is so over the top and fun to look at that it makes me wish more games could be this aesthetically bold.

Yakuza Zero is 100% the one to start with. The story never gets any better than the one-two punch of Yakuza Zero and Yakuza Kiwami.

Only problem is that playing as Goro in YZ is so much fun that it'll make all the Kiryu-only games feel slow and plodding in comparison. Took until this new game to finally play as Goro again.
