They're pretty spectacular if you're away from light and air pollution. There was one time in particular when I was out at a cabin with some buds and it seemed like the entire sky was lit up. All most of us were capable of was just standing there dumbfounded, or hooting like idiots.

Went with a couple friends who were training at the track last weekend, had never tried to shoot fast moving vehicles and thought it might be fun to try, here is a couple shots.

Moon put on a great show tonight, everyone and their mother was taking photos of it so I opted to sit back and enjoy the eclipse. It was especially awesome to watch the sky go from fully lit up to pitch black all the stars came into view. Also gave me a brief window to take a few non-moon photos because it'll be bright as hell for the next few nights while i'm visiting the UP making long exposure a total wash.

It's easier to just take multiple lower exposure shots and just stack them vs long exposures with all the light pollution, right?

One of the images of the Lunar Eclipse the other night. I'm liking the new Tamron 150-600mm lens for birds and moon pictures.

Didn't consider that idea I looked up a guide and I'll definitely have to try that next time thanks for the suggestion/tip! Luckily the moon stayed below the horizon for a while after sun set so the sky was plenty dark for about 1 1/2-2 hours every night. This was my first attempt at doing some astrophotography with a lens that was suited for it so I've got a few lessons learned for future attempts otherwise was really happy with a few of the shots I got.

Couple others from the trip:

Not photography in the "traditional" sense of this thread so far, but I had the chance to shoot this yesterday and wanted to share.

That's really cool. I love how the leaves look against bark in IR.

No offense, but I started chuckling when the music swelled and it switched to shots of geese going into the water and swimming away. As if the geese were swimming off to hell or something. But really, it was just a bunch of geese in a park that you probably just walked too close to.

But really though, that's an awesome effect.

Hahaha I know, no offense taken. That was all the footage I shot, and I cut the video together in about an hour so I just chose a track of the right length that I liked, so "cheese" was going to be inevitable hahah. Shooting the geese in slowmo added to that too :p

Went to New Orleans this weekend for Mardi Gras. Got a chance to play with my new camera.

Cemetery shots. All the tombs are above ground since the city is mostly below sea level. The detail on some of these things is really cool.
