Just admit he isn't anywhere near as good as you think he is.
I'll make you a serious post because you don't know what I think. For starters, I don't think he is John Elway 2.0. I do think all the reports are bullshit that just coincidentally came out the day after he fired his agents. Nobody here thinks that all the connected guys like Mayock Schefter etc who said he did great in his interviews would have come across all these reports "post draft" now saying he didn't? Come on now you cannot be that dumb. 2 and 2 here, its not hard to put it together.
I think he can be good in the right system, but he has flaws in his game.
Pros:
*Starter and a leader for 3 years
*Low interception rate, just 13 in his past 2 years compared to 73 tds
*Good deep ball thrower, not as good as someone like Rg3 but good
*Excellent intermediate accuracy
*Strong arm: NFL benchmark for QB arm strength is the opposite hash deep out, which as Mayock etc have said, he can make this throw easily.
*Leads his receivers very well (ie accuracy) in the short passing game which leads to a ton of YAC. Hitting a guy like Austin in stride vs making him stop and start again is night and day and he did this very well.
*Hardest worker on the team, film rat, great work ethic. Our coach said this: "Geno's the hardest practicing QB & most gifted student of the game I've coached" and is not a coach who minces his words.
*No off the field problems in 4 years. No girlfriends beat up, DUIs, arrests in clubs...not even a traffic ticket that I know of. He went to class and never got in trouble. I will take his history of this over these reports of him suddenly turning into this horrible person.
Cons
*Needs to grow up, got caught up too much in trash talk and shit in college. He's a gamer and his competitiveness is great, but sometimes getting too caught up in the game isn't good and it affects his play negatively.
*Fumbles a good bit because he is Big Benish in holding the ball forever and ends up getting a sack fumble from blind side etc. Happened several times this year at bad times in the game.
*Is scared to run sometimes even though he has good wheels, tries too much for the big play downfield instead of getting the first down.
*Was inconsistent at times this year
*Struggles in poor weather (ie bowl game and Texas Tech game with 30+mph winds)
That would be what I would say about him from you know, watching every game and snap he has played for 4 years. I think that's pretty fair and accurate. The bad stuff are things which are mostly all coachable. No, I don't think he is Peyton Manning, not even close. He is going to be in a west coast offense with Marty Mornhinweg which is great for his skillset, but unfortunately he is playing for an organization which gives no shits about the offensive side of the ball. Santonio Holmes had that Lisfranc surgery which players pretty much never return to full strength from, which leaves his only receiver then as Stephen Hill which is raw as hell. He has nobody even close to what he had in college to throw the ball to on the Jets. Iirc the Jets don't have Dustin Keller now either, and then they spent all their first round picks on defensive guys. He is pretty much doomed in this situation. I'd give Sanchez a pass on this year too, as I don't see how any QB could be successful for the Jets.
