Looks like there is going to be a lot of serviceable LT veterans for the Bears to choose from. I don't care if the plan is to draft one, if we don't sign at least 1 guard and 1 tackle then it's just the same old shit.

I'd think the Bears would be in the market for a decent quarterback.

Cowboys franchise Spencer. I guess the plan is to get a long term contract but not sure how that's going to go. I feel more comfortable using the tag this year than I did last, but he was the best defensive player on the team last year. Not sure how that's going to impact them financially but it doesn't appear as if the Cowboys are going to be doing anything in FA outside of maybe grabbing some middle talent for depth.

Eh, don't the pats have a habit of letting guys go in favor of cheaper younger players?
They definitely do. The Brady window is shrinking by the day though, and to try and develop the chemistry he has with Welker with a rookie. He is just to important to that team. That said I hope they let him walk.

And isn't this the same thing that always gets said when teams let a FA walk? They will probably be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to resign him either though.

Honest question: Does the (current) GB offense of Aaron Rodgers (yay!) to.... Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and DuJuan Harris (forgettable even in the four entry long white receiver list, pretty good if he says healthy, and who?) scare literally anyone?

I didn't mention Alex Green, Tom Crabtree, or Jarrett Boykin either.

1) It's the comedy rule of three.
2) Jones is a red zone vulture.. but that's about it, buried way back in nearly all other rankings. The red zone TDs are mostly him getting lined up with weaker defenders due to all the other guys on the field. I assume those TDs drop significantly once he's lined up against better defenders.

Make that 6.8 million. And no, the last two years are over 20, so this gets redone after year 3 and we will know what he really is by then. Deal is 52m guaranteed, 29m in signing bonus.
So I was wrong. I expected 4 years out of this deal. It's really a 3 year deal. Whatever. The cap room for the next 2 is decent and then the tv deal kicks in for no net loss...then a restructure. The brain trust in that building is way smarter than I am.

I would still like to see Boldin extended out and keep him for 2 or 3 more years. His cap number isn't crippling but if they are going to keep him outside of 2013, now is the time to make that happen. Ellerbe is obviously next to get a deal done. Then take care of Boldin.

I'm starting to worry that Leach will be a cap casualty. Hate that.

Edit: Full details of how the contract was structured. Gives an interesting insight into how these mega deals are made.http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/r...,1319614.story

Sucks, but I think we grab a FB prospect in a mid to late round, then with Rice and how well Pierce has turned out it should be ok. Too bad though because he's a beast of a player with attitude. I think Boldin and hopefully Jacoby get extensions.

What do you think happens with Reed?

From your link:

The deal effectively operates as athree-year, $62 millionagreement since the contract is likely to be restructured after three years.
Heh, you put that bolded part up as a headline and I bet most of the sports news consuming fans go "ok, that seems about fair for Flacco" even though its still 20+m a year. Bunch of overblown sensationalist crap with sports news.
