Ravens telling Boldin pretty much, restructure or you're gone. I guess money is a bit tight in Baltimore these days...
I was really expecing a two year extension to let him finish out here as per his expressed desire, and to smooth out his cap hit over the life of the contract, and in expectation of future year cap increases. If he does get let go, we'll have to hope that Tandon Doss gets more reliable with more snaps. Also wondering where we go with Jacoby and his contract. We are fairly deep with young (untested) receivers but its been a long time since we didn't have at least one crusty reliable possession vet like Boldin or Mason.

This off season feels like there is not going to be enough cap space to go around for all the free agents/cuts being made. Quite a few teams have had to gut their roster for space, and outside of the qb position in the draft, seems to be a deep draft class.

Haven't looked at how many fa this year compared to last, but it feels like a pretty extreme number of cuts.

Then you have teams like the great state of Ohio who apparently are allergic to spending any money. Honestly its fascinating that the Bengals have managed to get a playoff berth two years running this way.

What's scary is fucking Indy's available cap space. They could end up fucking stacked, with the addition of Luck this should be downright mortifying to the rest of the AFC fans, much less Texans fans and the South in general. Then again Jacksonville and Tenn don't seem to spend much either, so its pretty much a two team division already. Pagano could very well add two more former Ravens defenders this year, likely candidates being Cary Williams and Paul Kruger.

You think he'll take the restructure? His regular seasons haven't been outstanding even if he did come up big in the playoffs this year and it is always nice to have an older guy like him on the roster of a team for consistency if nothing else.

I don't think the FO would be this bold if they thought they wouldn't win the battle. He's publicly stated he will retire if cut, who knows if he sticks to that though. Seems like some cat and mouse. I really don't get why not just an extension, maybe that will be where they meet in the middle though. He's too valuable not to retain for another year or two, even if we start easing Doss in to be sure we have a viable replacement.

Lol, check this shit out:

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin was so close to being cut on Friday that he had prepared a statement thanking fans for their support during his time in Baltimore, reports The Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson. Now the team remains hopeful of working something out with Boldin.

how great is the first weekend of FA
I honestly enjoy all this offseason stuff. Reading about our cap situation, the fate of our free agents, and the upcoming draft is pretty fun to me. Of course it only takes a half hour a day so its not a substitute for a regular season week of football news, but its something. People at work were all like OMG I BET YOU ARE ON TOP OF THE WORLD for a couple weeks and got all confused when I was basically like "yeah it was great, looking forward to seeing what we can get in the draft now".

I'd take Sherman based on what I've seen last year. I might actually take Haden over Revis at this point but I'd like to see Revis on a real team for a season first. And keep in mind I'm forced to willingly watch every snap of at least two Browns games a year.

This whole CB twitter war was old the day it started though, that's the kind of offseason stuff that keeps me from watching any ESPN NFL coverage this time of year.

Whelp, apparently he said no to the pay cut and the retirement was BS, he's going to go on the market....

Still have a chance/time to work something out. Hopefully this is all hyped up posturing negotiations.
I'd love to see my Griefs get him, but I don't think they can swing it.

Also, Sherman is a loud mouth, and I get tired of him opening his pie-hole, but he is probably better than Revis.

I can't stand Sherman wish he would shut the fuck up, the guy has had 1 solid season and 1 outstanding season, do it for a few more years then open your trap.

There does seem to be a boat load of free agents and cuts of star veterans and lesser veterans and I believe it has a lot to do with the new rookie salary cap, why keep an aging veteran for lots of cash when you can draft his replacement in the 1st round and free up a bunch of cap space to sign a free agent to cover other holes.

The amazing depth this draft has unless you need a QB/WR/RB has a lot to do with it as well, if the 2014 draft is even half as deep as I suspect we will see this next year as well.

Cant wait to see Flacco look mediocre with nobody to blame but himself for hogging the offensive player budget.
there's a good chance things get ugly in BAL if the defense gets any worse.

also np with Sherman talking, i mean he produces so if that's his prerogative so be it.

He's not hogging the offense budget. He's making less than Ray Rice. Suggs and Ngata are hogging the budget. At least Rice and Flacco play 16 games consistently. Rice needs to hold on to that damn ball in the playoffs though.

Ok, now WTF, this nonsense is starting to piss me off:

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin was in Arizona today for the Kurt Warner Ultimate Football Experience. While there, ESPN's Adam Schefter said Boldin told him that he expects to play in Baltimore next season with his existing deal. Boldin said the Ravens have not asked him to restructure his deal, as previous reports suggest.

Famm, calm down bro. I guess I would be excited too if the Niners had won. I wont say they should have won because Im not that kind of fan, but for fucks sake I think people have had their fill of the Ravens unless you live on Fayette street or some shit.
