Agree with this...having a lot of friends who were Ravens fans, before the playoffs happened more than a couple were thinking you guys should let Flacco walk and try to find a better long term solution. Even after the playoffs, I agree he's not among the top 3 or 4 QB's in the league, but even before the playoffs happened, I disagreed with those friends. It's not like this is a good year for QB's in the draft, what really was going to be available in free agency or trade? The best you could have done otherwise might have been Alex Smith, but that would have been a sideways move at best, even before seeing what he did in the playoffs this year. Sure, the contract is an overreaction to a 4 game period where he played very well (and had plenty of good fortune at times too), but no matter what it was going to be the best move to keep him. Who were they going to find that was better?Flacco has been consistent. What team do you root for? One that's never had to go through a decade of terrible QB's? I'm not going to sit here and tell you he's Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Manning (Peyton) but he is in fact consistent. After all the years of truly undependable QB's keeping Flacco was a no brainer. His contract isn't even that bad for a QB, it will get redone in three years as well. Don't look at the stupid totals, his cap number is less than Boldin was going to cost us and Joe's under 30 and has potential to thrive with the OC change, hopefully. If not we get to take him back to negotiations in a few years.
